POSITION SUMMARY

Works closely with the Strategic Sourcing Managers and the Director of Strategic Sourcing in analyzing category spend patterns, supplier responses during negotiations, and contract compliance trends. Leads all analytical projects supporting the strategic sourcing process from supplier/product evaluation to valuing proposals; contracts to contract compliance monitoring.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.Assist Strategic Sourcing Managers/Directors in the analysis of current specification of goods and services and their corresponding cost implications, participating in the creation of new standards for business review.
2.Works independently to analyze current spend and suppliers used through the accounts payable (AP), travel & expense (T&E), wire, corporate procurement card and other financial systems. This analysis is across the enterprise, including subsidiaries, and all suppliers in use.
3.Reviews paper and electronic invoices to understand and un-bundle the current pricing of goods and services into component parts, such as purchase prices, discounts, implementation charges, and add-on fees.
4.Analyzes these spending patterns and all associated costs relative to the total cost of ownership related to the goods and services, including maintenance, operating, payments, resource and communication costs.
5.Gathers information throughout the enterprise on current supplier(s) service performance, (e.g., responsiveness).
6.Understands and develops volume and growth patterns and assumptions necessary for sourcing any individual category.
7.Develops templates for financial and service information critical to the creation of the Request for Proposal (RFP).
8.Reviews and analyzes supplier responses at each round, identifying areas for clarification, identifying incomplete information, and comparing specific and total pricing.
9.Works with Strategic Sourcing Managers/Directors to develop recommendations.
10. Manages the implementation and day to day operations of Owens & Minor Travel and Corporate Credit Card Program.
11. Provides support and assists all Owens & Minor users in the booking of their travel when needed and researches and solves any issues arising as part of this program.
12. Researches airlines, hotels, rental cars vendors and other travel services in order to negotiate best in class pricing for Owens & Minor
13. Keeps track of all spending through the corporate credit card program for all teammates and suppliers (pCards) and makes sure that annual goals are achieved.
14. Audits prices through supplier invoices, reports and electronic sites/linkages to ensure they match or are better than negotiated prices.
15. Works with Strategic Sourcing Managers/Directors to create, distribute and analyze user and business satisfaction surveys.
16. Reviews publications and conducts web searches on competitive product and pricing trends; conducts interviews with other companies and suppliers as required to maintain a perspective on the category marketplace with Strategic Sourcing Managers/Directors to identify and evaluate category/product/service and supplier trends.
17. Works with Strategic Sourcing Managers/Directors to analyze supplier performance against SLA's and create supplier scorecards.
18. Evaluates contract compliance trends across departments and subsidiaries within a category and identifies vendors where usage and compliance appears to be an issue.
19. Reviews general ledger, fixed asset, inventory, and capital systems to ensure purchase patterns tie into financial reports and that assets are managed appropriately.
20. Reports and tracks savings and service against detailed contract terms for inclusion in overall procurement reports to businesses and management.
21. Supports planning, forecasting, expense and capital budgeting processes, providing accurate cost estimates based on negotiated agreements; gathers volume and spend trends for future negotiations.
22. Analyzes procurement processes for inefficiencies.
23. Analyzes procurement policies for gaps and ineffectiveness.
24. Makes recommendations to management regarding opportunities for improvement.
25. Assists with implementing changes as directed.
26. Participates in the planning, forecasting, expense and capital budgeting processes, providing accurate cost estimates based on negotiated agreements and gathers volume and spend trends for future negotiations.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1.Bachelor's Degree required
2.Minimum of five years of experience in procurement of and negotiation for indirect goods and services
3.Strong analytical and negotiation skills required
4.Formal training and certifications in procurement and asset management preferred
5.Knowledge of eSourcing tools preferred

  • Broad understanding of corporate procurement internal customer's area of business (facilities, HR, legal, travel, etc.)

  • Fundamental understanding of financial systems data, accounting processes and e-procurement technologies

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct Request for Procurement and Request for Information processes

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct competitive bidding processes in an unbiased and ethical manner

  • Ability to read and write contracts and agreements

  • Project management skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Understanding of principles of accounting including the ability to read and analyze financial statements of suppliers

  • Financial analysis skills, including the ability to prepare complex financial models to analyze alternatives

Compiles and maintains benefits records and documentation. Informs and guides teammates on benefits matters regarding eligibility, coverage and provisions. Interprets benefit plan language and advises teammates regarding eligibility, coverage and claim procedures for the Company�s Health and Welfare programs. 5. Provides advice to supervisors and managers on methods and approaches to resolving employee benefits problems. 6. Supervises and coordinates the administration of COBRA with outside vendor. 7. Performs administrative work involved in the benefit functions and maintains related records. 8. Verifies outside vendors� and insurance companies� invoices and submits them for approvals and payment. 9. Prepares cost and participation reports on welfare plans and makes recommendations to management. 10. Researches employee health and welfare best practices.
