Cooper Tire is seeking a motivated individual for an indirect buyer's position in the Information Technology area. Duties will include:

  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history

  • Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.

  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable price

  • Review requisitions

  • Place purchase orders

  • Ensure that internal customers' expectations and requirements are met

  • Resolve conflicts concerning materials or services

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ability to juggle multiple tasks and demands

  • Works independently and takes assignments from multiple leaders

  • Knows and can effectively apply fundamental purchasing concepts, practices and procedures to complete assignments

  • Requires significant amount of solid communication skills

  • Is expected to be able to support job responsibilities with strong analytics and the ability to make decisions or provide recommendations without direction

  • Will be called regularly to provide clear explanations to leaders with recommended action

  • High level of proficiency on computer (SAP and excel)

  • Technical and interpersonal skills are required coupled with judgment and decision making abilities

  • Possesses a high level of personal integrity

  • Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization

  • Supports the establishment and measurement of metrics, which are used to benchmark progress toward goal achievement

  • Works with indirect suppliers and plants on consistency and what to improve

  • Responsible for on-boarding and training of new suppliers

  • Responsible for improving supplier relationships and increasing performance

  • Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested services/materials

  • Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements

  • Advises team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be used

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree preferably in the supply chain area

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Experience in complex decision making

  • Ability to travel

  • 5-10 years of progressive business experience and responsibility

Cooper Tire is looking for an experienced OE Program Manager to join our Original Equipment tire development team as we increase our emphasis on this part of our business. The OE Program Manager is responsible for specific programs awarded by automotive OEMs. The scope of responsibility is from RFQ through initial supply to OEM. This person is the key point of contact with the OEM on the assigned program. You will be a key member of a high performing team, with significant exposure to upper management and customers. Responsibilities will be broad, timelines will be aggressive. We need a Program Manager who can keep up and who thrives on solving problems and learning. Job Responsibilities: Manage Teams * Coordinate efforts through indirect or direct reports to achieve program deliverables and timelines. * Delegation of necessary tasks to indirect or direct reports. Develop Timelines * Receive and analyze OEM vehicle development timeline * Determine design duration & design resources required * Develop detailed timelines to include individual elements such as mold design, tire project builds, tooling deliveries, process development, and document preparation * Maintain timelines and modify as necessary, always meeting customer requirements Manage Programs * Participate in kickoff meeting with OE Quote team and follow up until quote is complete * Conduct a Risk Assessment for each new program * Execute Phase-Gate process for all programs * Follow delivery schedules for molds and factory tooling * Coordinate and follow project builds * Supply tire submissions to OEM customer * Get final OEM customer approval * Improve existing OE related processes Communicate * Interact with OEM customers including Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality. Improve organization responsiveness to customer requests and requirements. * Interact with Cooper internal suppliers and customers including Technical, Quality, Finance, Pricing, Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing * Resolve program issues with OEM customers * Provide overall program interface with the customer with alignment to Cooper sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams * Develop internal Cooper team through periodic reviews which should include (and not be limited to) program status report, contractual milestones, high risk areas, financials, and lessons learned communications * Lead regular management reviews and address action items * Document timelines, status, and key communications Basic Qualifications: * BS in Engineering preferred * Additional undergraduate or advance degree in business administration is preferred * Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills * Experience working with tire manufacturing * Experience with OEMs, automotive industry terminology, and APQP process * Project Management Institute (PMI) accreditation (PMP) * Strong computer skills including MS Project and Excel or equivalents * Must be team oriented, self-motivated, and detail oriented * Process thinker * Excellent problem solving skills, Lean Six Sigma green or black belt Cooper Tire is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
