Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees the social media strategies/digital content
Schedules social media posts (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) as breaking news events occur and/or announcements are made in order for the Indiana Statesman to have content each day of the week rather than only print days.
Producer works with Editor-in-Chief/Webmasters/Editors to determine how to approach a story for optimal social media outreach and digital engagement
This position will be working closely with everyone on staff so must be able to maintain a professional and friendly relationship with co-workers
Required to attend production nights and hold regular office hours to meet with Editor-in-Chief and Webmasters
Determines how to make the best use of new social media platforms, what content is trending across the web, and when and where to post original content are common job responsibilities
Coaching reporters and editors on how to use social media as a reporting and networking tool
Serves as unifying leader of digital efforts
Increase our interaction with students/social media presence
Goal: see our follower counts grow and number of likes and responses to posts increase.
Any other duties called for by the Editor-in- Chief or the Director of Student Publications
