School Summary

Indiana Connections Academy (INCA) is a tuition-free, virtual public charter school for students in grades K-12 throughout Indiana. INCA is authorized by Ball State University and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated by Indiana Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Indiana, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. The school was founded in 2010, as part of the Indiana Department of Education Virtual School Pilot Program, and became a charter school in the fall of 2011. INCA is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, an accrediting division of AdvancED.

The Academic Honors Coordinator will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:

  • Coordinate CogAT screenings;

  • Participate in the administration of the State Testing, as directed;

  • Attend professional development training related to high ability and honors programming;

  • Create progress reports, and conduct parent conferences;

  • Support the K-12 honors instructional program with classroom observations and coaching on best practices;

  • Review K-12 honors curriculum and devise enrichment to provide appropriate rigor;

  • Communicate regularly with K-12 parents, students, and other teachers to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and suggest instructional approaches and strategies;

  • Collaborate with K-12 school leadership to create and maintain the school's high ability/ honors program;

  • Consult with other teachers and staff learning specialists to develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications to students' programs to challenge and propel student learning;

  • Work with K-12 teachers to coordinate social activities and relevant field trips for students;

  • Attend field trips and other community activities implemented for families;

  • Devise and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a "school community";

  • Participate in K-12 student recruiting sessions and other marketing efforts that require teacher representation;

  • Work with school counselors to ensure students and families are receiving appropriate communications, students are making adequate progress on established goals; and

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must reside within Indiana

  • Highly qualified teacher with 3-5 years classroom experience

  • High Ability Certification

  • Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office and Google products)

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Customer focused approach

  • STEM experience/ certification preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment

  • Team player track record

  • Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel)

  • Project-based learning experience preferred

  • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and email address for 2-step authentication
