Summary: The Independent Business Manager is responsible for driving the sales of H&C Animal Health product through Distribution and into Pet Specialty and Farm Agriculture accounts throughout the USA. The Independent Business Manager will support and oversee the execution of retail programs through assigned Broker Team. This support includes attending critical sales meetings with Broker, training distributors and Broker Team, conducting ride-a-longs with distributor sales reps and Broker Team and attending tradeshows and consumer events. A significant amount of travel is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Achieve assigned sales goals
Manage Distributor relationships including promotional execution, inventory management, forecasting, new product placement, sales objectives and product pull through.
Make retailer store level sales calls, primarily through ride-a-longs with Broker Team and/or Distributor Reps with the following objectives:
Sell and support promotions and other business building programs
Provide subject matter expertise and training
Gain new distribution of items
Be the primary contact to sell and service Farm and Feed Retailers that Broker Team cannot service
Build successful relationships with clients, buyers, dealers, distributors, and H&C Partners
Identify, capitalize, and develop new opportunities
Work within established budget
Participate in strategic/tactical planning
Record all pertinent information in Customer Relations Management system
Participate in required training
Attend various trade and consumer shows, which entails setting up booth(s), interacting/selling products; and then dismantling booth(s)
Organize travel schedule
2-4 years within the pet industry
Minimum of 4 years outside sales experience
4 Year College Degree
Must be independent and a self-starter, open to collaboration and comfortable working in a home office environment
Ability to build relationships quickly with multiple levels
Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations.
Professional demeanor, solid phone skills and ability to write effective and accurate business letters/e-mails
Superior attention to detail
Ability to manage competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays and/or unexpected events
Exceptional organizational and time management skills must be able to juggle multiple priorities seamlessly and manage heavy workloads at times
Ability to thrive in a deadline-focused environment

Comfortable around animals
Ability to work additional hours as required by demanding workload
Solid computer kills including MS Office; particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Travel is up to 80% and/or three days a week with significant driving
