Job Description

Primary Function of Position

Manufacturing Equipment Maintenance Tech will inspect parts, assemblies, and products to ensure they meet specifications before manufacturing. Will perform complex inspections like fiber screening. Also responsible for Preventive Maintenance/Calibration (PMC) and Material Review Board (MRB) processes.

Essential Job Duties

  • Set up, operate, maintain, and calibrate various equipment, fixtures, and tools for manufacturing and inspecting components to product specifications.

  • Ability to prioritize materials / EFTs that need to be processed for Manufacturing and R&D needs based on reports and meetings.

  • Operate standard metrology equipment for open set-up inspection. Use calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, dial indicators, and surface plates. Operate Vision systems, Smart Scope, Keyence, and Dynascope for complex inspections. Perform First Article inspections to qualify tooling and new components.

  • Interpret complex mechanical drawings and GD&T and provide technical guidance to engineers regarding GD&T and best practices for measurement correlation.

  • Conduct visual/dimensional inspection of purchased parts materials and assemblies to procedures or specifications and disposition based upon results.

  • Perform inspection/preventive maintenance/calibration and record results in Q360 / ERP computer-based software.

  • Handle materials in accordance with procedures and prevent mix-ups, damage or other adverse effects.

  • Self directed to complete daily work

  • Use company ERP system (Inventory Control) to transact and release materials to for production use.

  • Create Non-conforming reports in ERP system for parts that fail their specifications.

  • Communicate inspection results to engineers and others, when requested.

  • Performs any other projects or duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Must use or understand standard metrology equipment (caliper, height gauges, micrometer, bore gauges, dial indicators, surface plate, etc.) for open set-up inspection.

  • Ability to inspect more complex parts using multiple types of inspection tools and equipment.

  • Basic knowledge in calibration standards and methods

  • Requires understanding of ERP systems for quality type processes.

  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Excel.

Required Education and Training

  • Minimum High school diploma, A.S. Engineering Degree preferred.

  • Minimum 3-5 years min. related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Requires an understanding of inspection techniques and metrology methods

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours).

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Thorough knowledge in using standard inspection tools and GD&T concepts. Familiarity with Vision Systems like Smart Scope, Keyence, or Dynascope.

  • Thorough knowledge in complex calibration standards and methods

  • Thorough understanding of SAP and how to process lot transactions.

  • Should be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of programs.

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices

  • Good systematic and problem solving skills

  • Good organizational skills
