OUR STORY.
Harmonium was established in 1975 through an enterprising blend of vision and necessity to respond to Mira Mesa's rapidly growing need for juvenile diversion services. We continue to shape our mission, goals and services by listening to the needs of neighborhoods, individuals and families.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that reaches more than 30,000 San Diegans a year and offer a wide array of innovative and customized program services to over 5,000 children, youth, and families each day throughout San Diego County. JOB DESCRIPTION.
Inclusion aides are responsible for the day-to-day supervision and inclusion of their assigned child(ren). This position is the go to person if there is a child who could benefit from an adaptation to instructional materials to enhance the student's performance.
JOB COMPLEXITY.
Develop and implement behavior support and intervention plans and modeling specialized strategies and techniques
Develop, implement and model social skill development techniques, including social stories, peer facilitation, and peer training
Assist in developing and implementing de-escalation strategies to assist or support with student development
Assist in the preparation and adaptation of instruction materials to enhance student performance in the program
Provide Site Director with enrichment program ideas focusing on the inclusion of the assigned child(ren)
Provide assigned child(ren) assistance with academic homework
MINIMUM COMPETENCIES.
Must be 18 years of age
Must have a minimum of 48 completed college units or pass CAPE test (a basic math and literacy exam)
Valid CPR and First Aid Certified required upon hire
Must have a minimum of 6 months experience working and/or volunteering with, or babysitting a child/children with special needs
