Job Description:

McDaniel College Graduate and Professional Studies invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Program Director for a new Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology. The position will begin August 2024 but will remain open until filled.

McDaniel College seeks an innovative inaugural Program Director to lead the development of a Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology program that has been approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission. The program is expected to launch in spring 2027.

The candidate for this position will be part of an exciting time of growth at McDaniel College and will shape program philosophy, curriculum, and faculty composition. The development of this program is part of our strategic plan to expand graduate and professional programs in the health sciences. This position is a full-time, tenure-track position (open rank).

The SLP Program Director is charged with the oversight and planning related to the SLP program. The role includes the combined responsibilities of leading a master's-level graduate program with teaching, scholarship, and service expectations of a faculty member.

The Program Director teaches a course load which will be consistent with expertise and background. Under the supervision/direction of the Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies, the program director is central to strategic planning for the SLP program, faculty recruitment, student retention and professional development, program budget management and oversight, as well as to the quality of the students' academic experience. In addition to teaching, the Program Director also has primary responsibility for staffing, class schedules, evaluation of faculty, oversight of the assessment of student learning, the program review process for the SLP program, and oversight of the requirements and processes required for accreditation. Teaching load will be reduced for the Program Director responsibilities.

Requirements:

A graduate degree with a major emphasis in speech-language pathology, in audiology, or in speech, language, and hearing science. PhD, EdD, SLPD, or equivalent in a related field preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, etc.: Must hold an SLP license in the state of Maryland or be eligible to obtain license shortly after hire date.

Possess knowledge of CAA accreditation.

Minimum of 5 years of documented clinical experience in the field of speech language pathology.

Teaching experience in SLP program

Leadership experience in SLP preparation program preferred

Candidates must comply with all related federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines including, but not limited to, FERPA and Title IX.
