As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will work with the company?s Corporate and Law Firm clients in all aspects of the Trademark Renewal process. This position reports to the Head of the Trademark Renewal Department as well as to the COO of the US operations.
It is based in our Chicago loop office location. Preparing and filing U.S. and coordinating global applications for trademark and service mark registration; Maintaining clients' portfolios; Proficiency with use of the PTO's online filing systems, including TEAS, the Assignment Branch and the TTAB (Trademark Trial and Appeal Board); Keeping attorneys apprised of upcoming deadlines and working with them to apprise clients; Review of all docketing, recording necessary dates in docket; Preparation and filing of PCT applications; Recordation of trademark registrations; Correspondence with foreign associates at all stages of prosecution; Preparation of docket portfolio reports and discussions with lawyers regarding upcoming deadlines and requirements in the US and worldwide; Assist with trademark clearance searches and trademark watches; Performing conflict checks, maintaining client files, opening and closing files. 7+ years trademark filing and portfolio management experience in a law firm or corporate legal department; Bachelor?s degree; A Paralegal Certificate is strongly preferred; Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills; Must be detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and track extensive details; The ability to prioritize workload, assignments, and client needs; The ability to adapt to change, balance competing demands, and function as an integral part of a fast-paced team environment; Self-motivated, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate effective planning, problem-solving and analytical skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) is required; Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with personnel and to handle confidential information sensitively and discreetly.
