In-House Real Estate Counsel - Retail Leasing

Our client, a privately held commercial real estate company, is looking to add an experienced real estate lawyer to their team who is well versed in drafting and negotiating local and national tenant retail leases (ground and building) and all related ancillary documents. In addition to leasing, advanced understanding of corporate entities and commercial real estate transactions including acquisitions, development and property management is preferred.

The work load will be varied and the hours reasonable. There is direct client contact with the development team and the brokers as well as the founding partners. This position will report directly to the General Counsel.

Responsibilities and Qualifications: 6-10 years’ experience drafting and negotiating local and national tenant retail leases (ground leases and building leases) and all related ancillary documents including letters of intent, lease guaranties, subordination non-disturbance and attornment agreements, memoranda of leases, franchisor addenda, and estoppels; Highly organized individual with the ability to manage multiple lease transactions from letter of intent stage through post-execution and delivery of premises; Advanced understanding of corporate entities and commercial real estate transactions (preferably retail) including leasing, acquisitions, development and property management matters; Strong interpersonal, communications skills and professional demeanor when working with prospective tenants, existing tenants, outside legal counsel and numerous departments within the company including brokerage, construction, architecture and property management; and A friendly and team-oriented personality who wants to be part of a vibrant and highly productive in-house legal team.
