The role of Import Manager, Origin Cargo Management is to deliver high performance logistics management across the Dollar Tree network to optimize the flow of imported merchandise and support Dollar Tree's Global Sourcing and Distribution Center expectations. This position will also be responsible for leading a team of import logistics professionals to support the expansion of Dollar Tree's Global Sourcing initiative. This person drives the Import Logistics team's strategy, vision and goals for the organization of on-time performance, while reducing expenses, leveraging continuous process improvements and providing Dollar Tree a competitive advantage. This position is responsible for embracing Dollar Tree's store-centric commitment to customers, customer service and sales.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Defines, develops, implements and manages business processes and procedures with overseas service providers to include shipping requirements, bookings, document compliance, ocean carrier allocations, tracking/tracing and all facets of domestic delivery.
Ensures that service providers are held accountable for meeting continuous improvement initiatives from both a strategic and tactical perspective.
Oversees import vendor delivery performance, lead time reduction and cost reductions by:
Ensuring daily oversight of all import vendors through non-performance programs and scorecards enforcement.
Establishing updated operating standards (SOP's) for the Import team, vendors, service providers, import DCs and ocean carriers to support global sourcing growth and cost saving initiatives. Leveraging databases, technology and service providers to ensure world class execution resulting in on time delivery and below budget.
Managing flow of goods through US Import DCs to minimize transit time and provide routing flexibility.
Executes the development and review of service provider RFP's and leads project implementations.
Negotiates annual ocean contracts with multiple carriers, conducts rate, service and terms analysis and makes recommendations to senior management. Evaluates carrier allocations, equipment support and forecasting to ensure capacity meets order demands.
Manages ocean freight expenses and service provider activities to meet or exceed budget expectations.
Partners with IT to develop and implement solutions for streamlining the import process.
Hire, manage and inspire the Import team, establish priorities, assign and guide the work of the Import team and coach them to successfully achieve their objectives.
Builds and develops strong analytics team to provide process improvement initiatives and reporting solutions.
Follows all Company policies and procedures.

Availability to work flexible, full time schedule; approximately 40-50 hours/week with minimal travel required.
4 direct reports, 1 on-site service provider, 9 ocean carriers, 4 freight forwarder and 2 Third party logistics providers.
Education: Bachelors of Science/Administration Degree in related area preferred
Experience: 6-10 years international logistics experience coupled with management experience in a major retail chain environment. Extensive working background with ocean carriers, freight forwarders/consolidators, customhouse brokers and dray carriers. Must have 3-5 years of experience leading, developing and motivating a team.

Must be able to integrate technology with business processes for productivity/service gains. Logistics analysis background with the ability to compile and analyze data and recommend solutions for improvements. Strong written, speaking and presentation skills.
Proficient in MS Office with a strong working knowledge of Access.
