Job Description:

Raytheon's GCO/ Global Customs Organization is looking for a professional with experience in Customs Brokerage, Freight forwarding and importer/exporter to fill the role of GCO Import Declaration Advisor.

This position will plan, organize, and execute day-to-day import transactions to achieve targeted results in a fast paced and challenging environment. This position must be familiar with ABI, DDTC, HTS, import valuation, Other Government Agency requirements, Free Trade Agreements and CBP processes.

This person must be a team player who is willing to learn and adapt to the company's business needs. This role serves as an import declaration primary point of contact for one or more businesses.

The Import Declarations Advisor reports to the IDS- RMS Services Leader directly and matrix-reports to the Export and Import Declarations Site Lead.


Your duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Translates regulatory declaration requirements into comprehensive easy-to-understand consultative guidance in order to ensure compliance and facilitate shipment execution.

  • Works with internal Programs and functions, Global Trade Compliance, Shipping, Receiving, International Logistics, Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders.

  • Review valuation, country of origin and product related information obtained from Supply Chain Procurement, Operations and Contracts for accuracy

  • Generates the required documentation necessary for import clearance instructions using SAP-based and other systems.

  • Ensures compliant submission of import entry instructions to Customs Brokers including management of customer expectations through collaboration, complete record keeping packages, and management of licensing requirements.

  • Interfaces with U.S. Customs.

  • Assesses the accuracy of documentation provided by Customs Broker

  • Monitors, escalates, and resolves Agent-filer service failures.

  • Assigns Harmonized Tariff Schedule number across similar product and product families as needed.

  • Operates in accordance with standard operating procedures. Recommends updates to processes and tools to accommodate compliant and facilitative goods flow.

  • Represents the organization as primary contact for import declaration filing with internal customers and third party service providers.

  • Manage and maintain import files and records in accordance with the U.S. Government import and export regulations and company policies.

  • Identifies and reports to Leadership and/or other trade compliance management any potential violations of trade compliance laws and compliance violations and any incidents involving significant weaknesses in processes or procedures.

  • Supports internal, external, and government-directed compliance audits and assessments as requested.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and application of import trade regulations

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to respond efficiently and effectively to time-critical issues with competing / conflicting priorities.

  • Detailed and task oriented self-starter who can develop effective networks with internal and external customers.

  • Familiar with ABI, HTS, import valuation, Focused Assessment Audit, USMIL, USML, ECCN, DSP5, DSP73, ITAR Exemptions, Other Government Agency requirements such as FDA, EPA, DDTC and Free Trade Agreements.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and build effective relationships and rapport with internal organizations and external service providers.

  • Licensed Customs Broker

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years' experience in Customs Brokerage, Freight Forwarding, Importer & export compliance, Department of State & Commerce Licensing, policy, or government relations field or In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, will consider an equivalent combination of education and directly applicable work experience.

This position has the responsibility for eliminating or controlling hazardous conditions that occur as a result of equipment and machinery operations or human error and which may lead to injury or property damage. This role is particularly challenging at Alert because it requires the breadth of experience to address the emerging issues associated with robots working near people as well as the more traditional role of understanding and applying international standards for product and system certification. We expect the Safety &amp; Compliance Engineer to work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to help them understand and design products compliant with functional safety, EMC/EMI, ergonomic and machinery directive standards. This person will also support Alert’s facility EH&amp;S initiatives by serving on the safety team and providing input on company training as well as on-site and work site safety.</p><p>The success of an organization requires more than just individual talent, it takes the work of teams to be successful. Document those practices and help others in the company understand and apply them.</li> <li>Work with other teams to develop and review manuals, procedures and training programs related to Alert’s products and their safe application.
