The Group:

The Implementation Manager will partner with our Pre-Sales, Business Development, Information Products, Technology, and Research teams to ensure that Morningstar's solutions are designed effectively to meet our clients' business needs and requirements, delivered on a timely basis and with high quality. This position is based in our Chicago office and is part of the Research Product organization.

The Role:

The initial focus of the role will be on our Enterprise Components business and will eventually expand to include the overall Research Product remit. The primary functions of this role are to understand and document the client's requirements while partnering with our product teams to manage delivery of the solution to the client. The role will also call for coordination with the client through effective communications throughout the implementation phase and to execute a smooth transition plan to ongoing Morningstar support teams at the end of the implementation effort.


  • Deliver high-quality and timely implementations to our clients

  • Work with internal product owners, business analysts and delivery squads to clearly communicate client business requirements and timeline expectations, monitor implementation progress, provide client and internal stakeholders with regular project status updates, and deliver high quality and timely implementations.

  • Produce Statement of Work documentation to formalize the client's business, functional and technical requirements and reach a common understanding of the solution between the client and Morningstar product team(s)

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients through the implementation phase; lead regular client calls/meetings and manage client expectations

  • Identify project risks, develops mitigation plans, and escalate potential impediments.

  • Ensure and own the client's sign-off on the delivered project and subsequently managing a smooth and timely hand-over to the client service team

  • Work with product management to incorporate client feedback into our core offerings.

  • Responsible for a set of projects while ensuring that client objectives are met

  • Work with team to identify areas for improvement. Lead team/process improvements projects and serve as a subject matter expert in those process/improvement areas.


  • Minimum of three years of experience in a client service, project management, or business analyst role.

  • Excellent writing, communication, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities and deadlines.

  • A friendly professional demeanor and ability to excel in a highly collaborative team environment.

  • Knowledge of or exposure to Agile and general software and data architectural principles.

  • Familiarity with SQL, XML, Web Service, schemas, APIs and JIRA

  • Familiarity with Morningstar products and capabilities.

  • A bachelor's degree is required.

Nice to have:

  • Financial services industry knowledge or prior development experience is a plus.

Work with internal partners to ensure appropriate accountability for timely completion of results and ultimately the success of the client implementation! Contribute to the continuous improvement, evolution and growth of the Aon Active Exchange operational model.</p><p>What will I do in this role?</p><p>Educate collaborators on the exchange offering and solution.</p><p>Educate clients and internal partners on the Aon Active Exchange model and operations using client prevalence, and standard methodology. Respond to and deliver with quality on client goals. Meets delivery goals.</p><p>Works jointly with the Alight Benefits Administration team, including the Implementation Manager and Client Communication Lead. Identify risks that could affect the project schedule and collaborates with other team leaders on subsequent mitigation strategies.</p><p>Handle client partners in coordination with aligned Alight Benefits leadership and our business leadership.</p><p>Participate in building the foundation for scaling the business and operational model. Make valuable contributions to ongoing evolution of process design and quality management. <br><br> Participate in sales client qualification process to settle appropriate solution. Reviews discovery document outlining the detailed solution. Leads domain questions for bidder meetings and vendor questions to the client while assisting with Request For Proposal responses as needed. <br><br> Conduct web/experience demo when warranted. You will also attend client meeting (Egg Finalist) if required.</p><p>Develop the client Statement of Work for Active Exchange Services while partnering with the sales executive to complete and review deal model for deal review. Participates with sales executive on deal review call to answer solution and strategy questions from leadership. Work closely with the consultants and sales executives to ensure that clients transitioning into the Exchange are supported.</p><p>Own client relationship and all aspect of Exchange delivery during implementation. Transition client relationship and support to the Exchange Consultant for ongoing delivery.</p><p>Maintain expertise in all Health and Exchange Solutions products, services and operations. Articulates and communicates value proposition and key differentiators. <br><br> Develops a high level of understanding of other practice areas, including benefits administration. Stays on top of new functionality improvements in Benefits Administration.</p><p>Integrates exchange solution with client third parties (e.g., Wellness) and carriers (PBM: e.g., CVS, ESI, Optum) within Statement of Work for Active Exchange Services.</p><p>We value this experience:</p><ul><li><p>7 or more years of experience leading large-scale benefits implementations.</p></li><li><p>Strong consulting, influencing, and social skills.</p></li><li><p>Experience working across business divisions and handling high-level client partners. Experience achieving results through influencing resources outside your direct responsibility.</p></li><li><p>The ideal candidate will possess sufficient knowledge of industry standard processes to drive efficient delivery model and effective solutions.</p></li><li><p>We value strong business management process orientation to drive adherence to consistent delivery processes.</p></li><li><p>Travel an average of 20% depending on needs and locations of clients</p></li><li><p>Bachelor's degree in a business, management, and/or technical field and/or equivalent work experience is required.</p></li><li><p>Project management certification is a plus.</p></li></ul><p>The target salary range for this position is $130,000.00 to $160,000.00 (US Dollar) annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. <br><br> The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. Position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans.
