Summary

As a member of the Immunology Team, Immune Assay Lead oversees the execution, quality and timelines of immune assays in pre-clinical and clinical programs. Develops and validates immune assays in support of Spark pipeline. The incumbent is also responsible for facilitating communication and technology transfer between Spark and CROs. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that all work is done in a manner compliant to relevant SOP guidelines and adequate GXP.

Oversee the execution, development and validation of assays in support of pre-clinical studies and clinical trials.

Design and execute immune assays.

Analyze scientific data, write and review reports, technical documents and presentations to support assay development, validation and transfer as appropriate.

Provide work assignments to the team on a regular basis. Review and approve the work performed by other analysts. Ensure work is done in a compliant manner according to SOPs and GLP guidelines.

Keep abreast of new scientific/technology development by participating in scientific meetings/seminars and through regular scientific review.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Immunology or related field required

  • Generally has 6 years of post-graduate experience

  • Some previous experience as a team leader is preferred

Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

  • A strong background in immunology and AAV gene therapy is preffered

  • Expertise in development of immune assays, in particular Neutralizing Antibody Assay.

  • Proficiency with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and relevant scientific software is required

  • Strong communication skills

  • Experience in managing team

  • Considered expert in field within the organization

  • Develops solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation

  • Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives

The Immunologist will: * With guidance and supervision from the group leader or supervisor, conduct R&D experiments related to immune responses in gene therapy. * Perform clinical and preclinical sample analysis per SOPs and generate data with high scientific quality to meet GLP regulatory expectations. * Participate in development and validation of bioanalytical assays such as immunoassays and cell-based assays. * Implement new assays or optimize existing assays based on in-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques. * Participate in sample management activities such as receiving, processing, storage and shipping clinical and preclinical samples. * Participate in instrument maintenance and qualification. * Maintain accurate, timely and detailed records of work. Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies * Hands-on experience performing immunoassays such as flow cytometry, ELISA, ELISPOT, neutralizing antibody assay etc. * Scientific background in AAV gene therapies is a plus * Experience with studies in laboratory animal models * Understanding of GLP principals is a plus * Strong publication record is a plus. * Ability to work independently after initial training as well as being part of a team; possess self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude * Excellent organizational, communication and collaborations skills Complexity and Problem Solving * Under supervision, develop solutions to a variety of problems of simple to moderate scope and complexity.
