Job Posting TitleImmigration Specialist LocationWashington DC Job Description SummaryAs part of the firms dynamic and diverse, 160-person, Chambers-ranked Business Immigration and Global Mobility Practice, the Business Immigration Specialist will support the practice by preparing and filing employment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant visas, including but not limited to H-1Bs, L-1s, TNs, PERMs, Preference Petitions and Adjustment of Status Applications. The individual will be positioned for direct contact with our client base, which includes Fortune 500 corporations, major academic and medication institutions.

As a result, effective communication is an important aspect of this position. Job Description Required Skills & Abilities: From a subject-matter perspective, a successful candidate should have the knowledge, skills and abilities to: research and prepare broad range of IV and NIV case categories, elicit information from clients and develop comprehensive draft strategy for PERM labor certifications, driving PERM process from start to end, Issue-spot and present potential benefits and disadvantages of various options, research and apply regulations and case law with minimal attorney oversight, understand I-9, site visit and related compliance issues, and write persuasive first drafts of sophisticated documents such as O-1 petitions, Aliens of Extraordinary Ability, Outstanding Researcher cases, as well as first drafts of complex DOL audit responses and complex RFEs for filing with the USCIS.

From a case and client management perspective, a successful candidate should be able to: effectively manage client relationships for high-volume clients with minimal attorney oversight, explain sophisticated immigration concepts and present strategic solutions for clients, and manage complex projects under tight deadlines. From a teamwork perspective, a successful candidate should be able to: lead peers and junior teammates in the support of a client account team and in the completion of projects train and regularly mentor junior team members, and defuse conflicts and address complex and challenging dialogues in a non-judgmental, consensus building fashion. Those who are successful in our environment are able to: multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, navigate complex technology platforms efficiently (ImmSTAR, HotDocs, Excel), communicate effectively in writing and verbally, as appropriate for the needs of the audience (clients, governmental agencies, internal and external resources), use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, and approaches to problems, demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills, and thrive in a team-oriented environment.

QualificationsEducational and Experience

A successful candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelors degree and will have 5 or more years of immigration-specific experience.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

JOB SUMMARY: The Attorney will provide legal advice and representation in accord with the best practice of the profession. Assist the Program Director with all internal and external reporting. Supervise assigned interns/volunteers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: * Interview individuals seeking legal assistance and advise the client as to possible options through proper interpretation of current laws. * Provide ongoing legal representation to the client commencing with the initial intake interview, drafting of documents, correspondence and client applications/petitions. * Conduct outreach activities in the community with respect to legal issues. * Assist with the proper supervision of assigned interns/volunteers. * Ensure the timely submission of all external and internal program reports. * Serve as liaison between the program and community partners. * Complete Continuing Legal Education, in addition to any and all licensing requirements for the Jurisdiction where the attorney is licensed to practice. * Perform other job related duties as assigned.
