Position Summary

The Immigration and Mobility Consultant is responsible for providing guidance and advice on all US immigration related matters (e.g., L-1A, L-1B, H1-B, TN, F-1, OPT, EB-2), mobility, and US/Canada cross-border work permits and authorizations. Advise employees, managers, and HR team members on the immigration process, requirements and timeframes, all while providing a positive customer experience. Coordinate with outside vendors to obtain and file work residency authorization for individuals on global assignments, localizations and other residency arrangements, and the preparation of non-immigrant and immigrant petitions. Works to ensure compliance with local and federal regulations worldwide and may support relocation of employees in specific residency arrangements.

Position Responsibilities & Essential functions

  • Ensures that CDK Global's immigration, mobility, and cross-border work permit programs are delivered smoothly across internal and external resources, and are compliant with government regulations

  • Proactively manages and oversees the preparation of various global employment immigration petitions (e.g., L-1A, L-1B, H1-B, TN, F-1, OPT, EB-2), leading petition strategy development discussions, communications, and accurate document production to ensure the highest level of client service and satisfaction; Ensures compliance with all internal and external immigration policies

  • Respond to audits from the Department of Labor; collect evidence to respond to RFEs

  • Responsible for ongoing evaluation and benchmarking of programs, policies and processes to drive improvements, identify efficiencies and create cost-savings to the company

  • Responsible for the management of relationship with immigration, advertising and relocation vendors

  • Partners with HR, Payroll and Finance teams across CDK to ensure reporting and compliance issues related to mobile workforce are addressed; Monitors domestic and international filing and compliance requirements to meet filing deadlines

  • Partners with Recruitment, HR, and business management to develop assignment opportunities to fulfill business needs; Effectively plans for immigration sponsorship; Advises on timing of assignments, position changes, promotions, and evaluates previous work experience and education to determine likelihood of success

  • Provides administrative support for the CDK US based Relocation Programs, including review and submittal of relocation authorizations to CDK's 3rd party vendor and processing relocation related expenses

  • Acts as the Subject Matter expert and point of escalation for I9 escalations from the CDK Service Center

  • Ensures ongoing compliance of CDK's immigration and mobility programs by monitoring legislative changes and implementing new requirements

  • Liaison between external tax consultant firm and transferees ensuring proper tax information is gathered in a timely manner to comply with tax filing requirements

Qualifications & Job Requirements

  • Min. 5 years prior experience handling complex immigration cases on behalf of a major employer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Deep knowledge of immigration law and ability to convey complex legal and process requirements to all levels of employees and managers

  • Able to multi-task multiple cases while prioritizing which cases have

  • Excellent cross cultural communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information affecting visa, residency and work authorization status

  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office as well as vendor immigration systems to track and report on status of cases

  • Must be detailed oriented to ensure all information provided by the client is accurate and correct, preparing and checking legal documents

  • Ability to train HR and management staff to enhance their understanding of immigration rules to help them fulfil their roles to a high level
