We are seeking two Student Success Plan Coordinators for the anticipated Immigrant/Refugee Student Success Plan to join the Oregon Department of Education. Keeping at center the unique needs of these student groups, one of these positions will focus on immigrant student success and the other on refugee student success. This role is a hybrid of remote work and will need to report to office when business or operational needs are dependent on onsite activities. Remote work is embraced to the fullest extent possible without interfering with business.

What you will do!

We are seeking two dedicated professionals to support the implementation of the Immigrant/Refugee Student Success Plan. Our Immigrant/Refugee Student Success Plan Coordinators coordinate with various partners, manage grant programs, and provide professional learning support in equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with colleagues to foster continuous improvement initiatives, aligning efforts for sustained positive impact.

  • Collaborate with partners to ensure the effective implementation of the Immigrant/Refugee Student Success Plan, proactively identifying opportunities for enhancement.

  • Contribute to the strategic administration, development, and alignment of the program, ensuring a cohesive and impactful approach.

  • Monitor, review, and assess program/project plans, research providers, and outcomes to maintain a data-driven approach to success.

  • Lead the Immigrant/Refugee Student Success Advisory Group, fostering collaboration and generating innovative recommendations for program enhancement.

  • Provide essential data related to outcomes, coordinate research efforts, and actively contribute to the development of grant resources to drive positive change.

  • Serve as a key member of the grant management team and act as the contract administrator for the Immigrant/Refugee Student Success Plan across Oregon.

  • Assist districts in meeting the distinctive needs of Immigrant/Refugee students and provide comprehensive training on grant requirements, policies, and procedures to education partners.

Minimum Qualifications (Need to have):

Master's degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university and five years of education experience working with Immigrant and/or Refugee students (e.g., classroom teacher, counselor, itinerant service provider), two years of which includes leadership experience (e.g., lead teacher, program coordinator or director, school administrator) specifically with Immigrant and/or Refugee students.

A Doctorate in Education or related field from an accredited university may substitute for two years of the education experience, but not for the two years of leadership experience.

An Oregon Standard Administrative License (issued by Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission) may substitute for the two years of leadership experience.

  • Experience in working with students or groups with immigrant and/or refugee lived experience.

  • Ability to establish effective relationships and demonstrate collaborative skills with district administrators, educators, parents, community partners, and other experts on best practices for students of color.

  • Experience administering grants or contracts

  • Experience in research, analysis, evaluation, and development of evidence-based policy and practices.

  • Comprehensive communication (oral, written, presentation and facilitation skills)

  • Critical thinking, formulating appropriate inquiries, and broadly considering and effectively assessing the implications, risks, impacts, and potential unintended consequences of pursuing various options or taking certain actions.

  • Salary Range: The range listed is the non-PERS salary range. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS.
