PRIMARY ROLE:
The Special Education Coach provides training to assist special education teachers with procedural compliance in accordance with state and federal statutes and administrative rules and mandates related to special education. The Special education coach provides coaching and mentoring regarding implementation of specially designed instruction and research-based strategies to close the achievement gap for students with disabilities. The Special Education Coach follows and supports ESD policies and procedures and performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Special Education.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in each responsibility and essential function of the position.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Individual will hold a valid driver's license and have reliable, insured transportation. If selected for the position, individual will complete a pre-employment background check.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree; Master's Degree preferred
A valid State of Oregon Teaching License with Special Education Endorsement K-12
Five (5) years teaching experience, including at least three years teaching in Special Education; Ten (10) years preferred
Non-violent, crisis intervention training is preferred.
