The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient centered 50% Imaging Technologist (20 hours) to work in our UICC Des Moines Johnston Clinic supporting our Adult & Pediatric Specialty Clinic. This position will provide exceptional care to both our adult population surrounding hepatitis, liver failure, and pancreato-biliary disease and responsible for patient care in a multi-specialty clinic working with both adult and pediatric patients. This position will mainly support our Johnston Clinic but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Pediatrics and/or Specialty/Outreach Clinics.
This position is responsible for perform diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing advanced imaging technology/equipment, explain examination procedures to patients and monitor their status, and instruct students and staff on examination and equipment operations and ensures all imaging protocols are being used correctly. Duties to include:
Operate, adjust, and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanical components of computerized diagnostic equipment.
Maintain, operate and trouble-shoot and report equipment failures.
Instruct trainees, students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
Explain examination process to patients.
Ensure patients welfare and assist physician with medical procedures.
Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation, I.V. placement, vital sign monitoring and recording, and basic life support; prepare and administer contrast material to patients.
Performs proficiency testing for the lab; runs all controls; maintains logbooks.
Works closely with all inspectors.
Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
Develops and processes radiologic film or creates image from CR unit. Delivers film/image to provider for reading/interpretation. Ensures film/image is conveyed to UIHC Radiology for over-read.
Schedule's test, procedures, and admissions outside the clinic as directed by LIP.
Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies
Assist with inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with hospital, departmental and clinical unit standards.
Maintain knowledge of technical developments, software updates, and related subjects by attending meetings, continuing education programs, and participation in professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.
Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
Works independently with limited supervision.

Education Requirement:
Experience Requirements:
Must maintain current certification in American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or other radiologic related technological certification.
Iowa Permit to Practice as required by the State of Iowa for all technologists operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment.
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team-based setting.
Driver's License and ability to meet University of Iowa Fleet Safety Standards
Desirable Qualifications:
Membership in appropriate professional organizations desired.
Previous work or clinical education experience in general radiology in an acute care environment, Emergency Department/Trauma Center is desired.
Recent work or clinical education experience in pediatrics is desired.
Knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures and experience.
