About the Role:

Job Summary

Functions as a team leader in directing the day-to-day operations of the Assistant-Imaging Patient Care team. Serves as mentor and educator to staff, and provides oversight of daily patient care tasks including, but limited to cleaning and stocking of patients' rooms and other unit areas. Direct patient care within the department of Radiology to include transporting of patients to their in-patient bed and/or to and from other areas as needed. Other responsibilities include retrieving medical records, supplies and transporting specimens to the lab. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the assigned department. Typically reports to a Manager. Works under minimum supervision.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications: CPR certified

  • Educational Requirements: High School Diploma

  • Minimum Experience: 2 years previous experience in healthcare related field or Two (2) years previous supervisory experience required.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Works with and discusses staff schedules, vacation requests, and other working and operational problems/situations with Manager Ensures decisions made by Manager are carried out and implemented.

  • Provides input into new employee interviews and staff performance evaluations, including routinely assisting Manager with annual employee clinical competency assessments and evaluations on assigned staff. Provides and manages orientation and training programs for new staff members within transport area and provides check off list to Manager.

  • Reviews and implement productivity standards as required by department, and works with Manager to flex staff if necessary or as needed.

  • Provides recommendations on ways to improve systems and processes.

  • Ensures patient transports are processed as efficiently as possible with minimal delays, adhering to MRI Zonal safety guidelines, ensuring the use of appropriate restraining policies and procedures, and using correct infection control procedures when transporting patients. Ensures that transported patients are modestly covered and communicates irregularities of the surface floor.

  • Checks for isolation precautions and follows established guidelines.

  • Exemplifies the organization's customer service standards when transporting patients by listening to patient concerns, anticipating needs and ensuring physical comfort providing pillows and blankets if necessary.

  • Takes appropriate measures to ensure that the patient is not left alone or unattended on stretcher or wheelchair.

  • Communicates with modalities throughout the shift to ensure throughput is maintained.

  • Oversees proper maintenance of transport equipment.
