Our Core Tech team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge technologies that serve as the foundation of current and future AR/VR products. From mixed reality and human interaction to natural input and beyond, Core Tech is focused on taking new technologies from early concept to the product level while iterating, prototyping, and realizing the human value and new experiences they open up.

We are seeking an Imaging Engineer with a background in compression and image processing to drive development of novel imaging techniques for VR, AR and Mixed Reality headsets. As an Imaging Engineer, you will be working closely with our researchers and developers to optimize and develop new imaging pipeline including image enhancement, compression optimization and video processing techniques for upcoming products. To satisfy the demanding needs of the human vision, you are expected to solve a range of technical challenges in the areas of real-time image processing, temporal rendering, image processing latency mitigation and sensor fusion.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build real time image processing algorithm including image enhancement and scaling operation primarily in C++

  • Lead cross-functional effort on developing a pipeline to handle vectorized information including text and graphics

  • Build tools and simulations to enable product advancements and efficiency-gains across both software and hardware

  • Conduct design and code reviews

  • Evaluate, analyze and optimize vectorized image processing pipeline including text

  • Build system resources related to local tone-mapping, low latency compression, image processing, machine learning and computer vision

  • Develop solutions for real world problems and integrate solutions into products

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related technical field

  • 3+ years experience developing software in C++

  • Experience in 3D Graphics and OpenGL ES

  • Experience in camera ISP techniques including white-balancing and HDR

  • Experience in inline compression and de-noising algorithm for display pipeline

  • Experience with hardware, firmware and drivers

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science

  • Experience developing or modifying camera pipeline on mobile platform

  • Experience in display technologies

  • Experience in 3D graphics and Vulkan

  • Experience working on VR, AR and/or MR

  • Experience with mobile CPU/GPU programming

  • Experience with human vision science

  • Experience with OS internals and kernel development/debugging for Android and/or Linux
