Imaging Authorization/Financial Counselor

The Authorization/Financial Counselor based in the Carmichael Imaging department on the campus of Montgomery Cancer Center is responsible for verification and discussing patient's benefits, treatment cost estimates and assistance with other documents needed for services. The Counselor will initiate financial assistance applications, complete screening interviews, secure prior authorization for services, follow up on denials and communicate information appropriately to all departments involved. Monday - Friday, no nights or holidays.

• High school graduate or equivalent.

• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and HMO payers eligibility systems.

• Minimum (2) two years experience in a medical business office, patient access, medical billing and/or collections department.

• Prefer experience in insurance authorization and/or precertifications.

• Strong interpersonal/public relations skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of customers in a diverse environment.

• Ability to communicate professionally and courteously.

• Ability to empathize with patient financial needs.
