Job Summary:

Responsible for performing support duties within the Imaging Department. Duties include but are not limited to retrieving/distributing patient records, preparing films for interpretation, answering phones, providing administrative assistance to Radiologist and other imaging staff. Coordinates flow of patients through in-patient holding area, including providing basic comforts, observation and communication to nursing staff of any emergent issues. Permitted to change patient from portable O2 to wall O2.

I. Specific Job Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

Assists with patient reception in both registration area and in-patient holding area. Notifies imaging staff when patients arrive, ensures patients are comfortable, (blankets, pillows, etc). Monitors patients for any obvious signs of distress and immediately notifies Radiology nursing staff. If necessary can connect patient to wall oxygen port if tank runs low (only patients requiring 4 liters or less).

Accurately, in accordance with hospital and department policies, utilizes HIS/RIS/PACS to release patient information including printing films and burning CD's. Provides assistance to nursing units and physician offices for the distribution of imaging reports in an accurate and timely manner. Prepares hard copy reports for distribution to referring physicians and nursing units.

Appropriately retrieves, assembles, distributes, and maintains patient x-ray files, which includes preparing studies for Radiologist interpretation. Accurately scans preliminary Tele-radiology reports and documents into the PACS.

Answers phone in a timely manner, takes accurate messages, transfers calls in accordance with established polices.
