POSTION: Illinois Water/Wastewater Business Development Manager

POSTION LOCATION: Chicago, Illinois

SALARY RANGE: $110,000-$130,000

This position will focus on developing and capturing work related to governmental agencies including water resources, water/wastewater piping, conveyance, and treatment. This key position supports a proactive and growing company by providing research and generating leads, develop, and maintain relationships with key contacts, mentor and manage professional organization participation plan, attend information sessions and conferences, and lead the Water practice business development meetings.

The Illinois Water/Wastewater Business Development Manager will work in collaboration with the technical staff, client managers, Marketing, corporate Vice Presidents, Illinois Business Development Manager, and the Vice President of Business Development.

The ideal candidate is a people connector who understands the government agency market and has familiarity with the challenges that communities, utilities, and agencies in the municipal arena face every day.

POSTION DUTIES:

  • Represent B&W at industry meetings, conferences, and client events. Coordinate others attending events within the Water/Wastewater practice.

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within your practice. Engage prospective clients, understand clients goals, needs, and issues, and maintain productive relationships. Learn gather and communicate information on future opportunities.

  • Help with the formal pursuit process. Assist with the pursuit strategy, provide input on project-specific understandings/approaches and participate in proposal interviews.

  • Assist the client managers/technical staff with business development and marketing opportunities in the Water/Wastewater practice.

  • Participate in the GO/ NO GO decision on new pursuits.

  • Make frequent client contact to the clients, respond directly to client requests when appropriate and forward requests to responsible managers as needed.

  • Monitor client satisfaction and ensure that their requests addressed.

  • Maintain activities and deals in CRM software HubSpot.

  • Monitor industry trends and relevant client outreach initiatives.

  • Collaborate with State Business Development Manager on professional organization plan and facilitate participation by staff.

  • Collaborate with the Innovation, Spatial Technology, and Municipal Services departments to provide perspectives on industry trends and needs and help develop new services or markets.

  • Work together with Marketing Department on strategy, social media, events, and corporate reports.

  • Participate in state business development meetings.

QUALITICATIONS:

  • 8 or more years of experience in the water and wastewater industry.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering service trends based on general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Strong written and verbal skills; Ability to write business correspondence and provide input on proposal narratives.

  • Ability to work in a team environment while coaching and mentoring staff.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Flexibility to travel between all Illinois offices.

  • Active membership and participation with various engineering markets (i.e. AWWA, WEF, ASCE, APWA).
