Job Title: IH Consulting Intern

Location: San Jose or Alameda, CA

About the role:

BSI Consulting Services has an exciting EHS Internship opportunity with a focus on Industrial Hygiene. The ideal candidate will preferably have some interest in the dynamic world of consulting. This role will participate, as directed, in Environmental, Health & Safety projects as a member of a consulting project team, design, development, implementation, and delivery of a wide variety of EHS solutions as a technical contributor. In this role you will be supporting various consulting projects in the San Jose or Alameda office. Projects are variable and challenging.

Responsibilities:

• Industrial hygiene (IAQ, investigations, sampling, monitoring, assessments)

• Assisting in preventing chemical and physical hazards that could be present, by performing IH monitoring, sampling and assessment of air, water, noise, chemicals, EMF and/or other materials.

• Health and safety code compliance

• Developing and delivering EHS/Occupational Health and Safety programs and training

• EHS assessments/general program compliance audits

• Regulatory compliance

• Occupational safety surveys/inspections

• Environmental issues (air, wastewater, hazardous waste)

• Providing EHS program compliance support by maintaining EHS compliance material and logs (e.g. permits, fees, OSHA logs, training records).

• Compiling data and providing input to client reports and programs.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

• Working towards undergraduate/graduate degree preferably in a science or engineering related field or equivalent professional experience.

• Experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Industrial hygiene (IAQ, investigations, sampling, monitoring, assessments)

• Assembling/authoring portions of technical reports on EHS topics.

The salary for this position can range from $20-25 hourly; actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's competencies, level of experience, education, location, divisional budget and internal peer compensation comparisons.
