POSITION IS OPEN UNTIL FILLED The classroom teacher is responsible for providing motivating lessons and opportunities for each learner, establishing standards of expected student progress in each area of study, and for developing techniques for assessment of that progress. The teacher will use suitable and varied teaching strategies to meet the needs of all students.

The teacher will design purposeful assignments that follow the district curriculum for their particular area in each subject area. The teacher will provide effective classroom management in a safe environment. The classroom teacher will be expected to contribute to the development and achievement of district goals and school programs through active participation on building, district, and parent committees.

Teachers should display leadership in both school and professional activities through effective, ethical, positive interpersonal relationships. The classroom teacher supervises students and classified aides as assigned and reports to the site principal. The classroom teacher's goal is to provide motivation educational experiences for every learner to excel and maximize their potential.

QUALIFICATIONS Possess Colorado Teaching Credential authorizing work in subject areas assigned. Evidence of good character and health. Demonstrate rapport with students, teachers, parents and administrators.

Evidence of dependability and professionalism. Knowledgeable of a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, behavior skill and curriculum. Ability to motivate student learning.

Ability to work with a variety of ethnic students/parents RESPONSIBILITIES The Classroom Teachers responsibilities include. Developing and presenting lessons that demonstrate planning and preparation and are consistent with the district course of study. Developing and presenting lessons with performance objectives that are understood by the students and are supportive of district goals and teacher expectations.

Evaluating student progress based primarily on achievement or performance objectives. Using a variety of instructional techniques and materials which are appropriate to the course and to the students. Developing and preserves a suitable learning environment.

Demonstrating and promoting responsibility to and consideration for others. Treating students with courtesy and respect. Maintaining accurate records of students' attendance and progress that can be easily understood and readily interpreted by others.

Participating cooperatively with fellow staff members in the development and implementation of curriculum and instruction and other matters. Keeping up to date in subject area and continually improves instructional techniques. Adhering to district policies and procedures.

Attending and participating in departmental, school, and district meetings. Supervising proper use of equipment and facilities with student safety in mind. Demonstrating concern for social, psychological, emotional, and academic needs of students.

Acknowledging professional responsibility to support and supervise co-curricular activities and cooperates with the administration to achieve equitable assignments consistent with individual interests and preferences. Preparing daily and long range lesson plans, as required. Motivating learners to enjoy, appreciate and participate in growing as a student learner.

Keeping informed of social, political, and economic developments in the local community. Promoting community responsibility among students. Helping to inform the community of services and educational opportunities available through district schools.

Supervising Para-professionals and volunteers in the classroom. Participating and supporting the use of all available specialized services (health, psychological, counseling) in solving children's problems. Administering achievement tests and other evaluating instruments as required by the principal and superintendent.

Supervising their assigned class or assigned supervisory activity at all times unless other arrangements have been made with the principal for authorized personnel to supervise. Providing for the care and proper usage of school property and maintain a current inventory of equipment and materials assigned to the teacher's classroom. Reporting to the principal, immediately, any situation which might threaten the safety and/or health of children.

Not releasing any of the children under their supervision to any person, or for any purpose, unless directly authorized by the building principal or his designee. Keeping parents informed and conferences when necessary. Attending school and district meetings as directed.

Participating in Student Study Team meetings, IEP meetings, and other curricular assignments. Supporting other staff members as professional colleagues. Upgrading professional competencies. " />

VIEW JOBS 8/24/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-22T00:00 Part-Time and Substitute Professional Staff Employment/Qualifications of Substitute Staff – GCG/GCGA The Board of Education shall maintain an authorized list of personnel to be used for substitute or part-time employment. Prior to adding a person's name to the list, a background check shall be carried out in accordance with state law. The Board authorizes the superintendent to notify and direct persons on the list to perform such service for the district as may be required on a temporary basis. The Board authorizes principals to notify and direct persons on the list to perform as substitute teachers on a temporary basis as needed. The Board shall approve payment of substitute teachers at the next regular meeting. Authorization by the Board of Education to pay personnel performing services on a temporary basis shall constitute employment by the Board for services provided during the period of time covered by such payment. Such payment shall not constitute any assurance or offer of continuing employment without specific Board action. Every person placed on the authorized list shall be given a copy of this policy prior to performing services pursuant to this policy. The Board annually shall determine the district's needs for substitute teachers and the availability of substitute teachers who meet the licensure requirements of state law. If it is determined that a shortage of qualified substitute teachers exists, the Board shall attest that an emergency exists due to a demonstrated shortage of licensed or authorized substitute teachers in the district. If these conditions exist, qualified applicants shall be encouraged to apply for emergency substitute authorization in accordance with state regulations. All persons hired as emergency substitute teachers shall be fingerprinted in accordance with the requirements of state law. The Board directs the administration to take any necessary steps to increase the available pool of substitute teachers by encouraging qualified persons to seek the appropriate license or authorization as provided by state law and regulation.
