The International Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for generating and communicating monthly and quarterly P&L results for the international business units. He/She assist and supports executive management in effectively analyzing and summarizing financial results that lead to strategic and tactical decision making for the enterprise. He/She is responsible for serving as the liaison to international regions and corporate F&A teams. This position is responsible for overseeing all F&A related processes and procedures associated with P&L reporting. The International Financial Reporting Manager works across business units overseeing data analysis, communications, providing strategic financial input, and making strategic and tactical recommendations. He/She oversees a team of supervisors and analysts.

The International Financial Reporting Manager interacts with business unit leads and corporate staff on reporting and analysis of financial results that lead to action plans. He/She collaborates with other corporate functions to perform monthly and quarterly analysis of P&L results. This position communicates results, analysis and insights to executive management to drive business decisions. The International Financial Reporting Manager performs data analyses based on UPS-specific and industry knowledge to arrive at strategic recommendations for improving profitability. He/She leads process improvement efforts to streamline reporting processes in order to maintain a high quality financial reporting structure.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manages month and quarterly close out activities within established timelines

  • Works with international region's Finance and Accounting groups and other corporate functions to coordinate detailed financial reporting

  • Reviews and validates reports to insure timely and accurate reporting of financial results

  • Facilitates formal presentation of reports and analyses to executive management to provide input to overall financial results and strategies

  • Develops and delivers presentations to executive management to convey results

  • Analyzes business unit data to identify issues, challenges, and changes needed to meet corporate goals

  • Manages and directs staff

Knowledge and Skills

  • Accounting Knowledge:
    Demonstrates a broad business and accounting knowledge; describes methods in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Designs/Develops Integrated Solutions to Business Problems: Demonstrates a broad understanding of business requirements or critical elements of a problem; identifies the impact of a problem on multiple areas of the business; recommends improvements to existing processes or programs

  • Detail Orientation: Distinguishes between "big picture" concepts and comments and specialized, smaller specific facts associated with work; notes the specifics of events and experiences; explains, in general, how details impact end goals or outcomes; ensures that work is completed accurately and with the appropriate level of detail

  • Finance Knowledge:
    Applies advanced financial analysis techniques to draw conclusions from financial data; understands and evaluates implications of alternatives; makes decisions on an appropriate course of action

  • Meeting Facilitation: Identifies and interprets unspoken feelings, attitudes, or concerns that may be inhibiting meeting progress; anticipates potential problems and effectively provides coaching and direction to resolve conflicts; adjusts meeting objectives as necessary; provides input into better methods for conducting meetings

  • Solicits and Gathers Information: Uses in-depth techniques to uncover new information or details that are not readily available; selects techniques and strategies that are appropriate for the audience; chooses techniques that result in more accurate and thorough information; implements strategies that minimize biases and preconceived ideas

  • Technology Knowledge:
    Recognizes the basic impact of technology on UPS business, services, and processes; identifies technological barriers in achieving desired objectives; maintains appropriate breadth and depth of technological knowledge for current work assignment

  • Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Finance or Accounting Preferred

  • Master's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) Preferred

  • Experience with data gathering and maintenance Preferred
