This position will ensure the integrity and reliability of all electrical, instrumentation, and control systems including installation, troubleshooting and continued calibration as well as maintenance within the assigned area. This will include: natural gas processing plant, compressor station, pigging facilities, and metering station. Additionally, this position must also have a strong commitment to safety and environmental policies.

  • Safely install, configure, test, calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and inspect electrical instrumentation as well as control system equipment

  • Monitor pressure, flow, temperature controls, process limited controllers, and gas analysis equipment

  • Use and understand the principles of operation of all meters and instruments used in applicable I&E work

  • Work with drawings, sketches, specs, as-builts, and make new for proposed installations and completed projects

  • Perform and document preventive maintenance inspections on electrical and control equipment in gas processing and compressor station facilities

  • Perform calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance of sophisticated compliance analyzers, and has the capacity to make programming changes as well as additions

  • Interpret schematics to troubleshoot problems and performs database maintenance administration

  • Install and adjust measuring and control devices, signal transmitters, meters and signal pickups

  • Practice awareness concerning issues of health, safety and the environment; cooperates with emergency teams to anticipate and deal with any hazardous and/or unusual situations (oil spills, line leaks, and inclement weather, etc.)

  • Utilize Work Order database for maintenance activity

  • Review, approve and fill equipment requisitions

  • New employee will be required to attend a one-week company- paid safety training session on week 2 of employment. This will include travel to offsite location, leaving on Sunday and returning on Friday.


  • High School diploma or GED required; Technical schooling is a plus

  • 3+ years of comprehensive I&E experience and 5 years of experience within natural gas compression operations or equivalent

  • Valid driver's license

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Knowledgeable in operating and maintaining equipment within oil and gas facilities

  • Basic understanding of electrical concepts, test equipment, flow schematics, and electrical and piping/instrumentation drawings

  • Basic knowledge of PLC operations and logic

  • Able to speak fluent English and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must pass pre-employment and subject to random DOT drug testing

  • Capable of lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs.

  • Capable of vigorous outdoor activities and have manual dexterity with physical ability to work extended hours, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, working with arms extended above the head, twisting upper body, standing for long periods, walking on catwalks, working in confined spaces, exposure to extreme weather conditions, driving a vehicle, operation of forklifts and light industrial equipment

  • Required to work rotating shift schedule, be on 24-hour call as needed, and work relief coverage for both Plant operations and truck loading duties

  • Capable of performing duties independently with minimal supervision

The Terminal Technician conducts associate level operations, assignments and duties for the Pipeline Department under general supervision. Works unsupervised the majority of the time and may be required to utilize independent judgment based on knowledge of the operation, making entry-level decisions about safety standards and operations as needed. This position requires that the candidate live within a 20 mile radius of Artesia, NM for response time. ESSENTIAL : (functions considered essential as defined by JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESADA) * Responsible for the product receipts and deliveries at the terminal. Ensures precise definitive measures to protect product quality * Ensures that equipment is operating safely and properly * Performs quality control checks on the product * Operates the truck loading rack and troubleshoots problems when required. * Represents Company policy to Truck Drivers, contractors and third parties working close to our assets, monitors their activities * Performs tank lineups for outbound shipments and inbound receipts and ensures timeliness and efficiency of the process * Follows written procedures for various job duties and adheres to all safety procedures at all times. * Operates Company vehicle and equipment * Responsible for "dig test" one call system, monitoring one calls, and dispatching to the location as needed * Responsible for maintaining balance of the terminal (i.e., Barrels in/Barrels out). Product Accountability of the Terminal * Proves Truck Rack and Pipeline meters to ensure accuracy * Locates underground pipelines and assets using instrumentation * Generates various reports for daily distribution Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion. Experience: A minimum of two years of on-the-job experience is required. EDUCATION LEVEL: A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required. PREFERRED EDUCATION: A Bachelor's Degree is preferred. REQUIRED SKILLS: Basic knowledge of the pipeline department. Working knowledge of DOT safety rules and regulations. Ability to make decisions as to operations and safety standards. Intermediate reading and writings skills with the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations. Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages customers representatives and contractors while on company property. WORK CONDITIONS: Office and field based. Petroleum refinery, out-of-doors environment, and driver based environment, including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, exposure to the risk of electrical shock, and working in confined spaces. Subject to all temperatures. Must be available for 12 hour rotating shift scheduled through weekends, holidays, and after hour call-outs. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing up to 60 ft, perceiving color differences, required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations (beards not permitted), ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, valid State driver's license and proof of insurance required, and strenuous physical activity.
