Essential Functions:

Trans Pecos Pipeline is seeking an I&E tech. Must be a self-motivated individual with a high regard for safety and integrity. Will be required to test and maintain instrumentation and electrical at compressor stations. Other duties may include assisting with mechanical, One calls, pigging, other duties as assigned or required and work overtime. Individual will be required to be on call. Ensure LOTO procedures and all safety and O&M procedures. Have a good relationship with both internal and external customers. Promote a team environment.

  • Multi-skilled position responsible for performing preventive and general maintenance and technical repair

  • Work on instrumentation and electrical equipment.

  • Responsible for installing and maintaining all instrumentation and electrical components safely.

  • Has the ability to troubleshoot problems with equipment. Runs conduit, pulls wire, changes motors, and maintains lighting systems and basic motor controls.

  • Maintains and troubleshoots station and unit control systems and complex equipment, e.g., generators, VFDs, MCC etc.

  • Maintain, modify and troubleshoot Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and/or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to maximize use of control technology and minimize installation and operating costs.

  • Maintains advanced monitoring devices (gas, flame/fire detectors, vibration and temperature monitors)

  • Read P&ID and electrical diagrams and other complex electrical drawings; interprets station and unit electrical diagrams

  • Updates electrical drawings.

  • Installs, troubleshoots and maintains end devices, alarms, shutdown systems, process controls, substation and branch feeders, variable frequency drives, MCC, air/fuel controllers, panel boards, etc.

  • Performs preventative and general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment and parts associated with this equipment (which includes working near energized circuits over 440 volts).

  • Is familiar with AC voltage (120-480) three phase and single phase plus 24 VDC.

  • Is familiar with medium voltage of 4160 to 138,000 volts AC and electric motors up to 5,000HP

  • Has knowledge of, electrical layout, safety systems and area classifications.

  • May work independently or with various groups to deal with issues that may arise.

  • Uses hand tools, power tools, and electronic diagnostic equipment safely

  • Performs clean up associated with tasks.

  • Provides training and technical support as required. Other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Assists mechanical and operations where needed.

  • Rotates on call for operations of compressor station

Essential Requirements:
Experience, Educational & Special Training Required

  • Ability to produce understandable and accurate reports and records.

  • Has ample knowledge of computers and Microsoft office programs.

  • Is able to examine/analyze equipment for defects.

  • Uses hand tools, power tools and electronic diagnostic equipment.

  • Must have record of very positive work performance, very good safety record, ability to perform work independently, history of being dependable and reliable, good organizational skills, good customer relations

Preferred Skills:

  • Background in natural gas compression and Toshiba variable frequency drives

  • Background in Allen Bradley RS logix

  • Understands equipment repair manuals; federal, state and local codes and regulations: schematic, wiring diagrams, layouts, codes, standards (incl. company standards and other regulations).

  • Ability to work well with others.

Special Characteristics/

Job Requirements:
  • Work may involve walking over uneven terrain, bending, moving from ground level to higher levels, and working around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment. Candidate will be subject to DOT drug & alcohol testing requirements

  • Must be willing to work overtime and handle call-outs

  • Must have a minimum of a High School degree or equivalent.

  • Ability to follow written or spoken work instructions in English.

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

  • Outdoor work required with exposure to elements

  • Able to work extended hours & call-outs as needed

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

  • Must be willing to live within an hour of reporting location near TBD, TX.

Will be required to Operate and maintain compressors, One calls, pigging, line patrolling and work overtime. They will be required to be on call. Ensure LOTO procedures and all safety and O&M procedures. Have a good relationship with both internal and external customers. Promote a team environment. * Inspect, maintain and repair as needed all facilities as assigned, including but not limited to pipelines, compression, and measurement facilities. * Knowledge and experience with line location equipment and techniques. * Obtain OQ qualifications to mark underground facilities and process one call tickets in adherence to state laws, and company procedures. * Obtain other OQ tasks as needed. * Perform operation and maintenance activities on field compressor stations and natural gas pipelines: start, stop, load/unload-housekeeping, monitor and record pressures, temperatures, volumes, fluid levels, etc. * Troubleshoot compressor and pipeline systems * Participate in rotating on-call schedule * Patrol pipelines as needed – maintain pipeline markings * Basic map reading and Global Positioning System (GPS) skills * Ability to read and utilize drawings, schematics, alignment sheets and P&ID drawings. * Maintain a working knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, EPA and state regulations) and document required regulatory activities. * Must plan, organize and prioritize assigned responsibilities. * Work independently as liaison between Energy Transfer Partners and outside entities i.e. landowners, emergency response agencies, contractors and other pipeline companies. * Manage all activities with a focus on safety and compliance. * Other duties as assigned * Valid driver's license * Good English language communication skills both verbal and written * Excellent computer skills * High school diploma or equivalent * Self-motivated Able to work unsupervised or with supervision Preferred Skills: * Pipeline or previous work experience * Knowledge of gas industry * Excellent team work skills Special Characteristics/Job Requirements: * Good Communication and organizational skills. * Microsoft Office & Outlook * Lifting up to 50 lbs frequently. * Working extended hours required in emergencies, on projects, or outages. * Must be able to work in hot, cold, or inclement weather. * Subject to call out 24-7-365 Energy Transfer Coyanosa TX
