You will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation and electrical equipment at our Air Products facility in Luling LA.

You will be responsible for the safe operation, troubleshooting, repair, and documentation of all activities surrounding plant equipment. Work schedule is based on a Mon-Thurs, 10 hour dayshift with on-call responsibilities as needed.

You will need to demonstrate a positive attitude and be willing to take on new opportunities and embrace tough challenges with a sense of ownership, energy and urgency. The expectation is you are able to approach work both individually and as a member of the team.

The Midriver area consist of 4 Steam Methane Reformers (SMR), and 2 Hydrogen off gas facilities. Sites are located in Luling, Norco, Garyville, Convent and Taft and provide Hydrogen via pipeline to refineries and chemical plants across Louisiana and Texas. The team supports the area and one of these sites will be your primary location for responsibility.

You must be able to:

  • Participate actively in department/plant safety programs. Promote safety rules and regulations as well as environmental compliance.

  • Engage actively in a team environment, bring a positive attitude, maintain personal accountability and provide mentoring and coaching for team member development.

  • Provide hands on support as required to resolve Instrument/Electrical field problems as they occur. Areas of technical knowledge should include, testing, troubleshooting and repair of:

  • control valves

  • plant process analytical equipment

  • pressure, level and flow instrumentation

  • low voltage motors/breakers and control circuits

  • distributed control systems

  • Investigate equipment failures, determine root cause of failure, and recommend appropriate solutions to reduce reoccurrence of/or eliminate cause of failure.

  • Recommend and specify revisions to improve equipment performance and/or system reliability/capacity.

  • Assist in the development, implementation and periodic review of preventative/predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned shutdowns and improve overall plant on stream capability.

  • Keep abreast of and evaluate new methodologies, work practices, equipment, instrumentation, controls, technology, etc., for application and use within the plant.

  • Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provide technical and hands on support as required during shutdowns.

  • Assist in the development and ongoing improvement of the plant mechanical integrity program.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Five (5) years minimum maintenance experience in a petrochemical or manufacturing environment.

  • Two-year Associate degree in Electrical/Instrumentation discipline or relevant military experience

  • Entry level candidates with SkillsUSA membership and the ability to demonstrate PDP leadership competencies are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Working knowledge of SAP, basic word processing, email and spreadsheet programs a plus.

Technical School Graduates: Students with a background in Industrial Systems, Machine Tool Technology, Electromechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Automotive Technology, HVAC, Process Technology, Electrical Technology, Instrumentation Technology are encouraged to apply.

VIEW JOBS 12/5/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-05T00:00 Job Overview: McDermott is recruiting a mechanical commissioning specialist to support pre-commissioning, commissioning, operating procedure development and startup activities on site at the Entergy St. Charles site in Montz LA. This position will report to the site commissioning manager. Tasks include checkout and testing and record keeping of activities for various equipment and systems for power plants, in addition to system cleaning and flushing plans and verifying alignment of valves and components Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities: * Provide leadership in all areas of commissioning safety * Perform system operations, ability to start up all plant systems * Perform power plant start up from DCS * Direct outside operators to perform plant operations * Implement the site lock-out / tag-out program for system commissioning activities * Act as the Commissioning Manager when designated * Interface with Construction and Turnover to obtain system readiness and projected turnover dates and provide information to Commissioning Manager * Provide leadership for discipline-specific commissioning activities * Supervise the day-to-day activities of the discipline-specific craft support group * Generate requests for information (RFI) * Track DCRs and ensure the implementation of DCNs for area of responsibility * Provide system enhancement feedback and design errors to Engineering * Ensure proper document tracking and maintenance of Commissioning procedures and data * Utilize Commissioning emergency program (i.e. ALERT) to notify other projects of issues * Provide input to level 1 reviewer for employee performance assessments * Coach and mentor junior Commissioning team members * Interface with Engineering, Construction, OEM and client, as required * Participate in the development and refinement of Commissioning procedures, policies and practices
