Job Description

Analyzes actual and predictable interacting operational activities of business to obtain a quantitative, rational basis for decision making through the application of logic and scientific or economic disciplines and techniques. Devises modeling and measuring techniques; utilizes mathematics, statistical methods, engineering methods, operational mathematics techniques (linear programming, game theory, probability theory, symbolic language, etc.), and other principles and laws of scientific and economic disciplines.

Basic Qualifications

0 years with Bachelor's Degree in related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or education in the fields of Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Data Analysis, and/or Data Engineering.

  • Experience modeling processes using a variety of tools and techniques.

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio. MS Project and SharePoint a plus.

  • Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others and move towards consensus.

  • Strong project management skills.

Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis. Basic Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and 0 years of relevant professional/exempt experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, previous experience with Navy Nuclear Power is a plus. BSME, BSMET, Aerospace, or related disipline desired. Candidate will be a Mechanical Test Engineer to support CVN 78 Class Mechanical Testung (i.e. Propulsion Systems, Nuclear, Non-Nuclear, Emergency Diesel Generator ops, etc.) Duties will include grooming and initial startup of ship's equipment during construction, system testing, troubleshooting, integrated plant testing and ops, work control (Lockout-Tagout). Experience or background with fluid system testing or maintanence, CVN78 Class systems is preferred. The position will involve working closely with the Shift Test Engineers, Lead Test Engineers and Ship's Force on CVN78 Class new construction test program. Requires the ability to physically access a wide variety of work sites, primarily those aboard ships under construction and available to work on all shifts.
