UnityPoint Health is actively recruiting for an Advanced Practitioner to join our Inpatient Hospital ICU team.

This is an ideal role for an Advanced Practice Provider who wants to work closely with a team of Physicians to manage critically ill patients in the Hospital. Care coordination will involve our current team of four Critical Care specialist Physicians and one Nurse Practitioner.

Responsibilities

  • Managing Critical Care patients in the ICU along with Pulmonology/Critical Care Physicians and Providers

  • Procedures will be performed; full training completed over several months of orientation

  • Typical weekly schedule includes one 24-hour shift plus two 8-hour shifts, giving our Providers a great work/life balance.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical, and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

  • Acute Care/Intensive Care experience is a must; 1-3 years either as a Provider or as an RN
  • Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse license (or graduate/eligible)
  • Eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship

General job duties and types of procedures required: Care for 3 patients with a wide range of medical conditions (COPD, CHF, DM, sepsis, renal, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, other respiratory conditions, some neuro/surgical/cardiac patients, bipap, cpap, face mask ventilator, trach's, trach'd patients on ventilators, chest tubes, g tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, etc…... Equipment utilized in the unit/dept: All patients are on bedside monitors, lift equipment, EPIC for charting, PIXIS for medication, portable monitors, bladder scanner, Doppler, Alaris IV pumps, Shift or schedule requirements: Night shift 1900-0730, 3 shifts per week, every other weekend, no call for travelers, will never work alone. Floating to other units/departments: Can float to other intermediate, tele and gen med floors Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept. 20 bed unit. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit.: 1 RN to 3 patients Dress Code: Any professional scrubs. No pediatric scrubs. Unit/department specific training and orientation program: Medical Intermediate is a very busy unit. Our patients are sick. Not quite sick enough to go to the ICU, but too sick to be on the general floor. We complete Q 4hour assessments on all patients. All patients are high fall risk due to bedside monitors and wires. Most travel RN's complete 2 twelve hour shifts on the floor with another RN before working on their own. Would be some other unit orientation with our educator. Would need to confirm that with him. 1. Current IL RN License (#/expiration) 2. 1 year ICU/Intermediate experience 3. 1 year of critical care experience with 3:1 or fewer ratio 4.
