I&C System Engineer

Position Description

TRISO-X, LLC is seeking an I&C Systems Engineer responsible for implementation of instrumentation and controls (I&C) systems for a nuclear fuel facility through all development life cycle phases from concept to realization, including detail design, analysis, testing, procurement, construction, and commissioning. This role is responsible for documenting, capturing, and managing the technical, licensing, and programmatic requirements and configuration of the system from the highest level to the contract end item level.

Responsibilities:

• Support I&C design for process systems (controls, instrumentation, data collection, electro-mechanical, automation & robotics, connectivity).

• Support system and mechanical engineers, designers, and analysts on development of detailed design.

• Support mechanical engineers in developing process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams.

• Interface with Architectural and Engineering firms, as needed, to support development/implementation of I&C system(s).

• Support functional requirement and procurement specifications for instrumentation and control systems.

• Support process instrumentation design, specification, and procurement oversight.

• Support control systems for pumps, valves, heat exchangers, etc. to improve the functionality of the client's plant.

• Develop control logic narratives, control logic diagrams, and control logic schematic diagrams.

• Develop panel wiring and interconnect cabling diagrams.

• Support the development of human machine interface (HMI) screens.

• Support the development of specifications for Programmable Logic Control (PLC) or Distributed Control systems (DCS) and components and instrumentation. Develop control logic code and implementation on PLCs/DCS.

• Support development of I&C system hardware descriptions including requirements, functional specifications, and I&C system architecture descriptions.

• Support development of troubleshooting plans and failure mode analysis documents to support design reviews.

• Support the execution of factory acceptance test procedures.

• Implement guidance for instrument checking, calibration, and testing.

• Implement instrument check, calibration, and testing program.

• Support system Process Hazards Analysis.

• Support interfaces with other workgroups (e.g., System Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Radiation Protection, Cyber Security).

• Support relevant teams in resolving I&C design issues.

• Support development of design change packages and design calculations (e.g., load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, etc.) in accordance with company policies and procedures.

• Support Project management leadership in developing detailed schedules and resolving planning issues for I&C design activities.

• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Minimum Education/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university program; MSc is preferred.

• 3-4 years of experience in I&C system development.
