Overview

EXL Risk Control is a leading provider of risk assessments and loss control surveys to commercial lines insurance carriers. We are seeking candidates who possess excellent communication skills, computer proficiency, and a commitment to meeting client quality and timeliness standards. Those with these skills as well as knowledge or experience in commercial insurance, inspections, or fire and safety assessments are encouraged to apply.

You will be responsible to schedule on-site surveys and provide risk control reports to insurance industry clients. These reports contain information necessary to underwrite a commercial insurance policy, and may include recommendations to control and/or correct potential loss producing conditions associated with that policy. You will be expected to manage assignments you accept, successfully secure customer appointments within a local territory and complete work assignments on time.

Inspectors will work from their home or office, and travel to local commercial business operations (i.e.) retail businesses, restaurants, hotels, apartment buildings and complexes, construction operations and jobsites, various types of manufacturers, churches, schools, etc. You will assess the risk for various commercial insurance lines of business that can include Property, General Liability, Workers Compensation, Auto/Fleet, Products Liability, Inland Marine and Builders Risk.

Tools or Items You Must Provide:

  • Windows-based PC with an image/document scanner

  • Digital camera

  • High speed internet access

  • Measuring device such as: laser, 100 ft. tape, or measuring wheel

  • Reliable vehicle

  • Auto and General Liability Insurance

Preferred Experience

  • Commercial Lines Property/Casualty Loss Control

  • Commercial Lines Property/Casualty Underwriting

  • Commercial Lines Property/Casualty Claims Adjuster

  • Commercial insurance inspections

  • Fire and Life Safety investigations/inspections

Must pass a background check. No Licensed Insurance Agents/Producers.

Reports to the Western Montana Regional President. Leads the commercial staff in the commitment to achieving the bank's goals. Is accountable for managing First Interstate's resources in a manner that will enhance its visibility, positively contribute to revenue growth and maximize its profitability. Provides on-going guidance, direction and leadership the commercial loan staff in meeting bank goals while providing exceptional customer service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned. * Establish and execute a sales and services strategy to achieve commercial lending growth, relationship expansion, credit quality and customer service goals and objectives. * Initiate and manage the service and sales activities within the commercial loan departments as well as provide support in these areas across the Western Montana Region. * Participate in and provides for the assessment of training and development needs of employees ensuring the ongoing development of the lending staff. * Assess and manage all risks associated with the commercial lending function in the Western Montana Region. Ability to effectively manage a collective commercial portfolio in the range of $1.5 billion to $2.0 billion. * Directs, coordinates, and monitors activities to implement bank's policies, procedures, and practices concerning granting or extending lines of credit and commercial loans. * Ascertains, establishes, and follows procedures for custody and control of assets, records, loan collateral, and securities to ensure safekeeping are followed. * Initiates and manages the sales and service activities for the commercial loan officers by contacting customers and business, community, and civic organizations to promote goodwill and generate new business. * Compiles and reports financial data as required and adheres to government regulations. * Prepares required reports. * Establishes, maintains, and cultivates relationships with commercial loan related industries. * In conjunction with Market Management, manages and coaches the commercial loan officers to establish, maintain, and cultivate relationships with other key areas of the bank including Wealth Management, Payment Services, Retail, Mortgage, etc. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Overall managerial responsibility directly and indirectly supervising employees in commercial lending across the Western Montana Region. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the banks policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Business, Finance, Economics or a related field. 10+ years of successful commercial banking and bank management experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible broad based commercial lending. Specific experience underwriting commercial relationships of both operating lines and term debt of several million dollars to a single borrower. Business development experience required. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, percentages with the ability to apply the concepts. Able to interpret financial information as it pertains to the management of the bank. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit.
