Description:Lockheed Martin's Santa Barbara Focalplane Infrared Sensors Business is seeking an integrated circuit layout engineer to join our team on-site in Goleta, CA. The engineer will be an integral part of our Readout Integrated Circuit (ROIC) Design Team which continually seeks to advance our state of the art ROIC's which are built into our custom, in-house designed IR focalplane (FPA) imaging sensors. Many of our sensors and products are key components of systems which fly on board many impressive and well-known fighter jets, attack helicopters, critical satellites, and weapons systems which are fielded by the US military.

  • The ROIC Design Engineer will have the opportunity to develop layout and mask designs for circuit blocks in our state of the art ROIC's.

  • The ROIC Design Engineer will have the opportunity to develop layout designs in a wide array of mixed signal CMOS processes and develop new layout design flows to support advanced nodes.

  • The engineer will develop some very impressive ROIC design elements which will include low noise amplifiers, high dynamic range pixels, analog to digital converters, digital to analog converters, digital memory, high speed serial transmitters, on-chip biasing circuits, digital state machine controllers, phase-locked loops, and many other high-end circuit elements.

  • The engineer will have the opportunity to collaborate on cross functional teams with other engineering disciplines to include firmware engineers, systems engineers, electronics packaging engineers, and human factors engineers.

The Locale: Goleta is a city in southern Santa Barbara County, California.

Goleta is part of the central coast region of California and offers lots of great scenery and is a great place to live and to raise a family. The region is known primarily for agriculture and tourism. Major crops include wine grapes, lettuce, strawberries, and artichokes.

Goleta is near the University of California, Santa Barbara campus. Much of Goleta is considered to be a quiet suburban community while Santa Barbara tends to attract most of the tourists and the area's residents. Goleta is about 8 miles west of the city of Santa Barbara, along the coast (the coast runs east to west in this portion of southern California). Where can you drive to from Goleta?

Goleta is 2 hours northwest of Los Angeles. San Francisco is about 5 hours to the north of Goleta. Las Vegas, NV is about 5 hours to the northeast.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in related discipline with up to 2 years of related experience or Master's degree.

This facility requires access to export controlled information therefore requires US Citizenship

Desired Skills:

Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering degree preferred.

Excellent communication skills and working in collaborative team environments

Prior experience designing layouts for ROIC's would be preferred but is not required.

Demonstrated experience with transistor level integrated circuit design is desired.

Experience with schematic and layout design in Cadence Virtuoso CAD software is desired.

Experience with layout verification in Siemens / Mentor Graphics Calibre CAD software is

desired

Experience with analog, digital, and mixed signal circuits is desired.

Experience with the design of complex system on a chip products is desired.

The ability to work effectively with CMOS foundries during tapeouts or dealing with PDK's is desired.

An interest in infrared sensors and related technologies is desired.

Prior experience with design of circuits for use in cryogenic environments is desired.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework:

The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees.

Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $73,500 - $140,900 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $84,500 - $159,400. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
