We're seeking an experienced IBM z Systems technical engineer with a focus in pricing and configuring mainframe hardware and software to join our software team. You will be a part of a team of presales systems engineers who support our IT Solutions software products. You will work under the direction of our Software Practice Leader and report to the Service Delivery Manager that manages the pre-sales technical team. Your primary duties will include leveraging IBM tools to provide software information and pricing for our clients.

This role can be based remotely or in any LRS location.

Performance Objectives:

  • Demonstrate expert-level product knowledge using IBM z hardware and software tools.

  • Provide technical pre-sales support on IBM z software and pricing.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Five years technical experience using IBM z tools.

  • Effective critical thinking and analytical skills.

  • Permanent authorization to work in the USA. Visa sponsorship is not available.

  • Client-facing, pre-sales and consulting experience will make you a stronger candidate.

LRS IT Solutions is an IBM Platinum Business Partner, offering a complete line of IBM systems, software, and services to customers throughout the United States. A Vice President oversees this group, with two Directors reporting. You will report directly to the Service Delivery Manager.

This position is located in Springfield MO. Summary: The Device Systems Engineer position is occupied by a skilled professional that generates new ideas for the application of new devices invented by Brewer Science into novel and innovative equipment, sensors, and units. This person conducts and leads value added equipment and unit level research that will result in either marketable sensor systems or equipment or IP for new products. These equipment and units will be based on new devices (for example: transducers, electronic components…) also invented by the group. They must demonstrate the ability to understand the market need for electronic instruments and equipment and the utility of newly invented devices for such units. By working from experience and knowledge of Brewer Science device technologies the Device Systems Engineer will develop methods of improving device synthesis, test, and evaluation equipment. He/she will need to understand the required electronic hardware and software required to develop systems that use and test new innovative devices. The Device Systems Engineer will be expected to supervise and mentor junior team members when necessary. He/she will also be expected to participate in customer marketing discussions to communicate the specific advantages of the device dependent equipment and instrument products. These communications will take the form of participation in internal or external meetings, preparation of product related documents and patent disclosures, and, presentations and papers in technical conferences and journals. Responsibilities: * Generate original and novel device application (including: equipment, instrument, and software) ideas that lead to a strong IP portfolio and innovative product development * Design a project based on the ideas; and execute and lead the project, in order to develop a new product. * Develop and improve device fabrication equipment and synthesis instruments, and, test methods, including custom-built test fixtures. * Improve device equipment and instrument design, fabrication and characterization methods to ensure stable and consistent device performance. * Learn market/customer needs on device based equipment applications, and update the prototyping processes to meet customer needs. * Communicate to internal functional organizations and to customers efficiently regarding the products through presentations, live demo, etc., in order to support product business. * Identify the components, devices, and, processes that are required to develop a product. Work/collaborate internally or externally to fulfill those requirements. * Develop software, graphical user interfaces (GUI), and hardware drivers that operate with a degree of reliability suitable for distribution to external customers. * Mentor and supervise junior team members. * Plan and report product development progress to senior management and customers.
