Summary:

Under the supervision of the Youth Empowerment Advocate, the Project RISE Youth Ambassador (PRYA) Supervisor(s) provide coaching, guidance, and direction to Project RISE Youth Ambassadors. PRYA's play a vital role in providing youth voice, choice, and perspective to the youth empowerment initiative under Ibero American Action League's Project RISE initiative. The vision of the Project RISE Youth Ambassadors is to carry out the Project RISE mission through youth engagement efforts that empower the community, promote social-emotional learning, and cultivate dynamic community engagement.

• Reports to the Director of Community Intervention or Designee

• Engage youth who live and/or learn in communities heavily impacted by gun violence, or have been impacted by gun violence, in pro-social programming, positive youth development, intergenerational mentoring, and restorative response efforts.

• Provide access to information regarding positive, social events and activities, in the Greater Rochester Area and beyond

• Support the Youth Empowerment Advocate in developing and implementing programming centered around pro-social programming, positive youth development, intergenerational mentoring, and restorative response efforts that amplifies protective factors and/or reduce risk factors to being impacted or involved in gun violence

• Support existing efforts involving youth with the aim to amplify protective factors and/or reduce risk factors of being impacted or involved in gun violence.

• Support connecting youth and families to caring community members for the purposes of creating and maintaining healthy and rewarding relationships intergenerationally within the community

• Train in restorative practices and provide restorative services to community, collaborating

with existing restorative teams within Ibero when appropriate.

• Some evenings and weekends are required

• Any other duties assigned deemed pertinent by Ibero-American Action League's President & CEO or designee.

Authority:

This position holds a relatively high degree of independence within the Youth Empowerment framework of Ibero American Action League's Project Rise initiative. The individual must be resourceful and able to display initiative, understanding of management systems and interpersonal relations, and capable of decision-making regarding the Project RISE Youth Ambassador program.

Requirements

Position Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled high school (at least 14 y/o) or college students

• A passion for community engagement

• Work Permit at the time of start date (if applicable)

• Reliable transportation

• Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred, not required)

Physical Demands: The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 10 lbs. And frequent sitting

Salary Description

$16 - $21/hr.
