The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a IACUC Coordinator (MAP Title Administrative Associate). This position will provide complex administrative support to the Office of Research & Integrity with time sensitive issues related the IACUC.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Manage the maintenance of new and existingprotocols by building protocols from submission, managing amendments, personnelchanges and revisions to compile a formatted reviewable protocol that iscomplete, accurate and falls within the regulatory requirements.
Manage and maintain WVU KC back-office for the
Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) which includes: entering all new/updated information relatingto new protocol submissions, amendments, personnel additions, and protocolapproval dates.
Administratively assess animal care and useprotocols submitted to ensure thorough information is given and follow-up withPI to obtain any incomplete areas prior to forwarding to the IACUCAdministrator.
Assist with the planning of the monthly IACUCmeetings and liaison with the PIs on protocols in preparation for reviews. Coordinate additional IACUC meetings toinclude OLAW webinars, Education and Training Focus Group, IACUC subcommitteemeetings, facility inspection and semi-annual review meetings, IACUC specialmeetings covering non-compliance issues, policy revisions and protocolsubmission forms updates, etc.
Assist with preparation and presentation ofpertinent subject matter/training to the research community as developed by theIACUC and administration.
Correspond with the animal facility (OLAR)regarding expiring protocols and animals maintained within the facility as perfederal requirements. Coordinate withOLAR regarding animal census and protocol adjustments.
Assist IACUC Administrator and Director withtesting and implementation of a new electronic research administration systemfor tracking of IACUC protocols. Continue to maintain database/spreadsheets that include specificinformation from each protocol and supply reports on a monthly basis.
Pay Grade: 14
Associate's Degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education or experience in a science field is preferred.
Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Two (2) experience in the following:
Documentation of technical and/or biomedical information in a succinct and understandable manner
Utilizing a specialized electronic tracking system
Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of federal and institutional policies and regulations preferred.
Experience using electronic research administration systems preferred.
Background in animal science or related field preferred.
Strong time management skills including the ability to keep multiple tasks on schedule.
