I Know ME/AmeriCorps Mentoring Program

The Game Loft is an out-of-school time program serving youth between the ages of 6 and 18. We provide enrichment programs, non-electronic games, adventures across the state of Maine and opportunities for learning and service.

The program operates 50 weeks per year and serves 270+ youth. I KNOW ME is a mentoring program serving rural Waldo County. 60 teens are enrolled in a six year program, ten each year, designed to build relationships, discover self and increase understanding of our state. Member Duties : Mentoring with six cohorts of 6th-12th graders (70 kids total.) Meet with kids in school and take them on field trips across the state to know who they are and where they are from with the goal of helping them learn where they are going. Play non-electronic games, cook and eat Maine food, meet interesting people from around the state, understand the people, places, ecology, history, economy, challenges and assets of Maine.

Provide informal mentoring services and program coordination at the Game Loft after school program sites. Assist with recruiting, training and nurturing volunteers.
