VIEW JOBS 11/13/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-11T00:00 Posting Info Posting Dates: 11/12/2018 - 11/26/2018 Job Family: Human Resources Department: Missionary Department Purposes The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints faces many exciting and complex opportunities and challenges as it seeks to accomplish its divinely appointed responsibilities. To support and foster implementation of prophetic vision, Church departments develop strategies, programs, and tools to administer the work of the Church. Over time, new strategies must be developed, tested, and implemented as internal and external environments and priorities change. These efforts are supported by strategy professionals on high-impact, high-profile teams that bring strong and objective analytical and problem-solving skills. This position is a part-time strategic analyst internship for college students in the final year of their degree. The internship program places the student analyst on a high-impact strategy team in a participating Church department. For the 2019 Winter-Spring terms, this includes the Meetinghouse Facilities Department and Missionary Department. * The Meetinghouse Facilities Department is engaged in a worldwide endeavor to improve how the Church plans for, provides, and preserves places of worship around the world. The work of the strategy team has contributed to significant positive performance improvement, cost savings, and cultural change in the Department, including international operations in Church areas. Innovations and solutions developed through this process are informing and shaping strategies in many temporal and ecclesiastic functions. * The Missionary Department is developing strategies to significantly increase the Church's effectiveness in sharing the gospel so more individuals can come to Christ and remain on the covenant path. Strategic priorities including developing new ways to find and teach that are powerful and relevant in the modern world, how to support Mission Presidents, and how to adapt missionary approaches to local environments, etc. Student analysts provide thought partnership, analyze opportunities for improvement, develop proposals, solutions, and recommendations, and help shape implementation plans and change management. They work closely with senior leaders, including strategic project managers, directors, managing directors, and general authorities. Each student analyst is anticipated to own individual workstreams, or significant pieces of work, and will experience a high degree of autonomy and leadership opportunities. Through the interview process, internship candidates will be matched with positions available on these teams according to needs of the teams, relevant individual experience, and personal interests. All positions are high-impact and dynamic. Each strategy team focusses on professional development and impact, providing exciting growth opportunities for the highest caliber students that helps to prepare them for professional contribution as they begin their career. Internships do not normally lead to full-time positions after graduation. Responsibilities Work cooperatively with team members while owning assigned workstreams and projects, leveraging guidance of fellow analysts, team leaders, and department directors. Primary responsibility will be to support in the areas of strategy, problem structuring, data analysis and reporting, implementation planning, and change management and training. Take lead on assigned initiatives by performing analysis, providing strategic insight, creating effective communications and giving and carrying out recommendations. Prepare effective presentations and status and performance reports for internal meetings, trainings, team updates, and updates to Church leaders. Provide feedback and counsel on others' workstreams, taking ownership for overall success of the transformation programs beyond individual workstreams. Lead out and exemplify open thinking, innovation, and challenging the status quo. Ask tough questions and provide insightful answers. Draw on the Holy Ghost and personal talents to deliver high value deliverables and solutions. Qualifications Insofar as possible, candidates should have relative work experience in strategy, analysis, and consulting fields. Candidates can demonstrate the following: Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Able to influence strategic thinking, identify trends, and analyze data to impact recommendations. Ability to communicate effectively in a way that builds and improves relationships. Must keep confidences and appropriately deal with sensitive data and documents. Requires little supervision. Student analysts are expected to work from Church headquarters in Salt Lake City. Schedules are flexible per the individual's class load, though applicants should plan on working ~20 hours per week.
