Job Summary: This is professional hydrologic work, performing research for hydrologic projects, preparing, and reviewing technical hydrologic publications or working on hydrologic projects.

Job duties include:

Performs water quantity and water quality studies of surface water basins using major watershed models such as: HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ICPR, SWMM, BASINS/HSPF, and District-developed models; performs computer model calibrations and verifications of watershed simulations; maintains and updates water quantity/quality simulation models; determines data needs for watershed studies and computer applications such as: GIS data, land use and soil data, meteorological data, hydraulic, and water quality data; performs statistical analyses and quality control on collected data and simulated results; performs hydraulic simulation of streams and rivers, such as stages and discharge relationships for applications in other computer models.

Performs statistical analyses of hydrologic data, including stream discharge and water quality data frequency analysis, development of flow duration curves, and regression and trend analysis.

Collects data, performs field investigations, evaluates contract proposals, provides technical training, attends training and seminars, performs other related duties and projects as assigned.

For Hydrologist I or II: contribute to the development of project reports. Presents study results to internal and external stakeholders.

For Hydrologist III or IV: writes technical reports and presents study results to internal and external stakeholders. Participates in the peer review process by preparing study reports and presentations to be peer reviewed, responding to reviewers' comments by either written/oral means, and making the proper adjustments based on the reviewer's comments.

For Hydrologist IV: develops, conducts and oversees water quantity and quality projects, including the preparation of project definition, scopes of work, and scheduling.

Minimum Qualifications:

Hydrologist I requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in hydrology, engineering or related field.

Hydrologist II requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in hydrology, engineering or related field and one-year professional experience in hydrology, or related field.

Hydrologist III A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in hydrology, engineering or a related field and two years of professional experience in hydrology relating to water resources.

Hydrologist IV requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in hydrology, engineering or related field and five years of experience in hydrology or hydrogeology; or registration with the State of Florida as a professional geologist or professional engineer.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

Mostly office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products with some field visits as required.

Periodic field visits:

Applicant must have ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.

Travel:

Requires travel to attend off-site meetings, sometimes outside of normal business hours including overnight.

Salary Range:

Hydrologist I: $44,512.00 - $55,640.00

Hydrologist II: $50,980.80 - $63,710.40

Hydrologist III: $58,344.00 - $72,924.80

Hydrologist IV: $64,230.40 - $83,491.20

Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
