Hvacr Specialist 2

The Position

Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVACR) Specialist's perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

The HVACR 2 will work under the direct supervision of the Facility Supervisor III and will work directly with inmates. Incumbent will be responsible for the preventative and routine maintenance of HVAC systems, exhaust fans, temperature controls and systems and operation of a building automation system that controls the HVAC systems.

Incumbents must be able to 'sweat' and/or braze fittings, tubing and equipment, use electrical testing equipment, read schematics and blueprints and supervise inmate workers. Troubleshooting, maintenance, repair of Refrigeration/Heat Transfer Systems, Air Handlers, Kitchen Equipment and Auxiliary components is required. Duties will be to monitor vacuum indication instruments, oil levels and temperatures, set time clocks, lubricate rotating equipment, perform water quality and air balance tests, troubleshoot control and equipment malfunctions, repair inoperable equipment, installation, fabrication and retrofitting equipment and components to update systems or replace obsolete or worn parts, track and prepare reports on system operation conditions, system maintenance, repairs and associated costs, and other duties as assigned. Knowledge of other craft disciplines a plus.
