Job Description:

The functional responsibility of the HVAC Control Technician Master is to Manage & Operate the campus wide energy management & fire alarm systems. Including but not limited to scheduling the energy management system, inspections, monitoring, making adjustments, installations, etc., of the electronic, pneumatic and other devices associated with the campus wide HVAC, boiler & fire alarm systems. This position is located at LSU Eunice, Facility Services Department.

Job Duties:

75% Responsible for the management, operation, maintenance & repairs of the ongoing campus wide overall EMS to include but not limited to scheduling the EMS, inspections monitoring set points, humidity levels, etc., to ensure maximum building comfort at minimum energy consumption levels. The use of a desk top computer during normal working hours and a lap top computer for remote access operations of the EMS is used after normal work hours, weekends, holidays, etc.

Serve as the lead worker & functional supervise facility staff on special projects. Serve as the contact person to followup on campus wide HVAC control system needs. Work in conjunction with EMS, fire alarm systems & other technical service providers & vendors on a regular and followup bases as needed, to ensure that all systems are properly inspected focusing on special problem areas to ensure that they are all functioning safely & at peak performance levels.

Assess & monitor energy consumption throughout the campus by inspections of various electronic & mechanical components on regular bases & prepare reports to help identify building and/or areas that warrant improvements. Continuous inspections of the HVAC, boiler, fire alarm systems, etc., including but not limited to instruments & controls, in order to make necessary calibration adjustments to ensure that the various devices, meters, etc., function within the given specified standards. Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, install, etc., utilizing building plans & equipment schematics, various control devices such as actuators & other equipment associated with the HVAC, boiler, refrigerator systems, etc.

20% Documentation & record keeping of all building HVAC systems services for historical data, Office of Risk Management audits, etc. Perform overall building inspection of all building systems. Servicing and monitoring swimming pool systems.

5% Other duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor.

Salary: 24.10/hr

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Three years of experience in the installation or maintenance of pneumatic, electrical or electronic control systems for heating (including boiler), ventilating, or air conditioning systems.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

Training in the installation or maintenance of pneumatic, electrical or electronic control systems for heating (including boiler), ventilating, or air conditioning systems will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience on a month for month basis.
