We are looking to hire a HVAC Technician

  • Level I, II, or III. Please review the requirements and duties for each level below.

NOTE: all levels are required four weeks of on-call annually

Position Specific Information (if Applicable):

HVAC Technician I

Performs mechanical inspections, repair, maintenance, preventive maintenance, installation, and calibration of the District's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC). HVAC equipment such as, but not limited to, air handling units, cabinet heaters, thermostats, chillers, boilers, piping, etc. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

The position may require overtime work, for either scheduled or emergency basis and is subject to after hours recall

Four weeks on-call required annually

LICENSES & CERTIFICATION:

  • Must enroll in a program and continue education to obtain National Center for Construction Education Research (NCCER) certification.
  • EPA Universal Chlorofluorocarbon certification

ESSENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Knowledge of hazardous materials and disposal requirements

  • Work near moving mechanical parts

  • Outdoor weather conditions

  • Working in temperature extremes (heat, cold)

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Constant lifting, five (5) to twenty (20) pounds

  • Frequent lifting, twenty (20) to fifty (50) pounds

  • Frequent lifting over fifty (50) pounds

  • Constant bending, squatting, standing, reaching, sitting, walking, climbing, kneeling, crawling, stooping, and repetitive motions

HVAC Technician II

Job Description Summary

Performs mechanical inspection, repair, maintenance, preventive maintenance, installation, and calibration of the Districts heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC). HVAC equipment such as, but not limited to, air handling units, cabinet heaters, thermostats, chillers, boilers, piping, etc. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele. • Respond to routine and emergency service calls for HVAC equipment. • Diagnose defects, repair or replace defective parts in HVAC units and equipment • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance inspections and associated repairs on HVAC equipment: including, but not limited to, troubleshooting electrical circuitry, reading and interpreting schematics as it relates to HVAC equipment. • Inspect and verify the operational safety of all heating boilers, roof top units, air handling units and ventilation systems. • Working knowledge and ability to monitor operation of equipment through the Building Automation system (BAS). • Ability to test, troubleshoot and set up boilers and boiler combustion efficiency. • Perform seasonal start up and shutdown of HVAC equipment including evaporative coolers, cooling towers, chillers and boilers. • Maintain accurate records / logs related to the HVAC equipment; • Assist other trades, i.e. plumbing with piping and repair issues • Provide labor and material estimates related to HVAC for small remodel projects • Ensure applicable mechanical codes and regulatory requirements are met • Recommend to supervisor repair needs to accomplish and eliminate ongoing and future repairs • Knowledge or hazardous materials and disposal requirements • Perform other duties as assigned or requested To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • -- Perform as subject matter expert and interface with project coordinators, engineers, general contractors, and sub-contractors on project design, development and site visits.
  • -- Perform a variety of contracting and purchasing related tasks within trade or, in support of, department buyers, including identifying the scope and requirements of anticipated projects, identifying and contacting suppliers and contractors, conducting pre-bid walk-through and/or conferences, performing quality control inspections, inspecting delivered products and certifying completed work.
