Alutiiq Commercial Enterprises, LLC a subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC has an exciting opportunity for an HVAC Tech III supporting the U.S. Airforce at Joint Base Langley - Eustis (JBLE) located in the Hampton/Newport News, VA area.

The HVAC Tech III will work in the HVAC shop to inspect, enhance, operate, maintain, repair and replace all heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and systems structure.

  • Provide skilled work including the repair, maintenance and installation of mechanical/HVAC systems.

  • Duties include but not limited to;

  • analyzing faults of equipment malfunctions and determining repairs;

  • making adjustments or replacing,

  • inspect and maintain a variety of equipment to include, but not limited to,

  • air conditioning

  • boilers

  • air-handlers

  • exhaust fans

  • fan coil units

  • pumps

  • valves

  • controllers (both DDC & Pneumatic)

  • motors & starters

  • refrigeration and automated control systems

  • Parts (duties & responsibilities);

  • lubricating and cleaning motors

  • adjusting and calibrating controls

  • Inspecting, testing, and verifying operation of controls and safety devices

  • Installing new or replacement HVAC units and components.

  • Accomplishes work in accordance with authorized Work Orders and contract requirements for response and performance.

  • Completes Work Order feedback in accordance with established procedures.

  • Will provide technical guidance and assistance to HVAC II and HVAC I.

Payrate: $37.86 Hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Basic knowledge of principles and practices of maintenance, repair and replacement of HVAC equipment. Ability to inspect and maintain a variety of equipment to include, but not limited to, air conditioning, boilers, air-handlers, fan coil units, pumps and valves. Ability to follow verbal instruction and work independently. Ability to work with little or no supervision. Proficient in the use of hand and electrical tools. Ability to function in close quarters or cramped environments.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be fluent in English. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • CLEARANCES, CERTIFICATIONS, TRAINING, ETC.: Valid driver's license and safe driving record. Certification, license or registration may be required if necessary to perform job functions. Universal CFC Card is required. Facility clearance including official background checks is required.

  • MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT: Ability to safely utilize, operate and maintain hand and power tools common to the electrical trade. Ability to interpret and apply NEC, local codes, blueprints, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings. Knowledge of operation and installation of a variety of complete electrical systems I equipment.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
