The primary role of the General Maintenance/HVAC Technician is to routinely work with other facilities department team members to complete job requests with a full range of minor repairs to buildings, vehicles, and grounds. This role is also responsible for performing preventive maintenance on all HVAC systems campus wide, troubleshooting problems, and repairing and/or replacing HVAC equipment after a complete evaluation is performed and approved by the Facilities Director.

LINE OF AUTHORITY

The General Maintenance position is supervised by the Facilities Director.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years of field experience in HVAC service and maintenance preferred; or any combination of training, education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills

  • High School Diploma or GED, required

  • EPA Universal Certification, required

  • NATE Certification, preferred but not required

QUALIFICATIONS

The qualifications of the General Maintenance HVAC Technician position of the Florida United Methodist Childrens Home should include the following:

  • Knowledge of work skill and maintenance skills required for the general upkeep of buildings, equipment and grounds

  • Suitable by character and personal habits to work around children who reside in the group care program and to role model behavior consistent with agency mission, vision and core values

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with co-workers in whatever task is required and accept supervision

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Must have sensitivity to the service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the General Maintenance HVAC Technician position of Residing Hope include the following:

  • Maintains a safe, clean, organized work environment for self, coworkers, residents and visitors

  • Assists with Records/Inventory, to coordinate, locate, account for, maintain, protect and secure the furniture, fixtures, equipment, supplies and inventory of Residing Hope

  • Work closely with the Facilities Department Director to achieve the timely completion of work orders and other facilities related assignments

  • Responsible for other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Facilities Director.

  • Work with the Facilities Department Director to maintain, and safely operate all tools and equipment that are utilized in performance of assigned responsibilities

CERTIFICATES LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Florida Drivers License
  • EPA Universal Certification, required
  • NATE Certification, preferred but not required
