As a GMP system owner, the HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining a compliant state, troubleshoot, inspect, repair and document work on core facilities equipment or systems that support the manufacture and packaging of pharmaceutical products.

EHS Responsibilities:

  • Follow all safe work procedures

  • Know, understand and comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) guidelines

  • Report unsafe conditions

  • Report all injuries, illnesses and hazardous materials releases

  • Wear personal protective equipment

  • Attend HSE training programs

These responsibilities also includes some of the following

  • Assist in the installation, troubleshooting and repairing of the following:

  • Electrical and PLC controls and components

  • Heating, air conditioning and plumbing components and systems

  • System operations used in manufacturing and laboratory environments

  • Maintain equipment in compliance state by ensuring that documentation and audit trail is kept intact and required maintenance is performed. Responsible for equipment rounds and documentation of critical operating parameters.

  • Execute PM instructions based on maintenance schedules.

  • Disassemble of equipment to remove parts and make repairs. Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear. Repair and replace broken and malfunctioning components.

  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs. Operate newly repaired and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs. Documents the work, parts and materials used to comply with SOP's and Quality requirements.

  • Study blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery.

  • Participate in the planning, installation and improvement of equipment. Responsible for writing and performing of technical procedures, change controls and keeping drawings and schematics up to date.

  • Support and meet departmental, plant and corporate HS&E goals. Work in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Perform other job related duties necessary to the effective operation of the Maintenance Department

  • Associate's degree in HVAC Technology (or equivalent) or 5 years of Facilities / Utilities equipment maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Facility/Building Management IT System knowledge

  • Familiarity with good manufacturing practice plant operation, safety and regulatory requirements

  • Working knowledge of industrial controls systems

  • Aptitude for creating written procedures and maintenance plans

  • Experience with machinery condition monitoring, life assessment, and repair strategies

  • Knowledge of MS Office and SAP

  • Knowledge of root cause failure analysis methods

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to problem solve and utilize learning and critical thinking

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

This position is in a manufacturing area utilizing DEA schedule III / IV materials. Synovex differential pay will be paid to colleagues working within the facility. Position Responsibilities Record Keeping and Documentation * Maintain and complete accurate records (time cards, batch records, log books, etc.). Equipment * Operate assigned equipment, i.e. PLC controlled packaging line, vision system, etc. * Clean production equipment and facilities. * Set-up/ disassemble packaging equipment. * Operate specific in-process devices associated with the equipment. * Operate material handling devices, electric pallet jack, manual pallet jacks, and hi-lifts. * Apply the metric system to assigned process calculations. SOPs / cGMPs * Follow all SOPs/cGMPs applicable to the area. * Apply proper housekeeping techniques. * Follow proper dress and secondary gowning policy. Safety * Practice good safety techniques in the manufacturing area., including lock-out/Tag-out procedures. * Read and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs). * Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required per SOPs, i.e. safety shoes, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hearing protection, etc. Decision Making -- Demonstrated ability to: * Delegate questionable issues upward. * Follow directions either written, or oral. * Know when to stop the process for anomalies. * Learn to identify "out-of-spec" material. Process * Familiar with production/ process flow. * Know proper staging and storage location for supplies and equipment. * Learn key terminology associated with Pharmaceutical Manufacturing. Personal Computer Skills * Perform PC tasks Education & Experience * H.S. Diploma or equivalent, plus 6-12 months of experience * Language skills - able to read and interpret procedures. * Math Skills - ability to apply general math skills. * Has a basic understanding of mechanical skills and has used various hand tools * Meets the physical requirements of the job. PREFERRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS * Technical school certificate, or 1-2 yrs. college. * Minimum of one year of experience in a manufacturing environment. * Experience with vision systems and robotic filler. * Knowledge of P.C. using Windows based applications. Physical Demands This position supports a manufacturing area utilizing DEA schedule III/IV compounds with OEB exposure limits of 3/5. This position requires secondary gowning and use of Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) within the manufacturing facility. Must be able to withstand physical confinement for most of the workday. * Apply good lifting techniques. * Prolonged periods of standing * Will be exposed to routine lifting of 20-40 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. * Ability to work flexible hours and overtime. * Ability to move up and down stairs/ladders.
