JOB SUMMARY: Under supervision of the HVAC Supervisor, provides a variety of HVAC/R maintenance services according to directions, specifications and established safety guidelines. Performs maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. Must have a working knowledge of building BAS, knowledge of chiller operation and maintenance. Must have knowledge of building temperature control systems and experience in preventative maintenance procedures.


  • Assists HVAC Supervisor in scheduling HVAC Technician assignments.

  • Responds to emergency/on-call status as needed

  • Performs emergency repairs when necessary; may be required to work special assignments during emergencies.

  • Preventative maintenance on equipment & building checks.

  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of HVAC equipment malfunctions.

  • Observes additional maintenance needs requiring attention and report them to supervisor.

  • Performs troubleshooting and repair of complex chiller or control problems.

  • Performs air quality control checks while on shift.

  • Assists with setting heating, air conditioning, ventilation and environmental control equipment into place.

  • Performs wiring controls and other related electrical equipment.

  • Orders and maintains filter and power belt supply at approved quantities.

  • Performs safety checks and routine chemical testing as necessary.

  • Stays up-to-date with technological advances in the field.

  • Performs routine maintenance of equipment and tools.

  • Observes areas for safety, and that all potential hazards are fixed.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned within the scope of work.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED and two (2) years relevant experience and one (1) year supervisory experience. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of heating, ventilation, and refrigeration theory. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of HVACR equipment. Must have experience in preventative and repair procedures with all aspects of HVAC. Must exhibit a working knowledge of refrigeration systems, pump systems, VFD systems and chiller & boiler operation. Must have knowledge of meters and gages to perform the duties of the position. Must be able to respond to emergency/on-call status as needed. Must have a valid Michigan driver's license and be insurable by OCR property insurance carrier standards. Must be able to pass a physical. Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures. Must be able to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. Must be able to lift and carry weight up to eighty (80) pounds or more. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. You may be required to pass a skills assessment test to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications of the position. Exposure to loud and continual noise levels and a smoke filled environment. Frequent travel from building to building and local in-town travel required. Must be flexible with shifts and days off. Occasional out-of-town travel required. Must be able to meet Odawa Casino Resort internal training requirements. Must be able to obtain a gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the LTBB Gaming Regulatory Commission. Must maintain confidentiality at all times.

An applicant previously employed by OCR who resigns with proper notice may apply for rehire after 3 months from the effective date of their termination. An applicant previously employed by OCR who has their employment terminated or who resigns without proper notice may be eligible for rehire subject to the following schedule:

  • 1st occurrence must wait one year from the effective date of termination or resignation without proper notice

  • 2nd occurrence must wait three years from the most recent effective date of termination or resignation without proper notice

  • Any occurrence beyond the 2nd must wait five years from the most recent effective date of termination or resignation without proper notice

In addition, OCR reserves the right to consider the severity of the reasons for involuntary termination in assessing minimum qualifications beyond these time periods.

Must not be currently on a Security Ban from Odawa Casino during the time of application.
