Maintains and repairs all refrigeration, air-conditioning, ice machines and heating systems throughout the hospital complex. Including, but not limited to: Central Cooling Plant, Air handlers, DX unit, Package units, Refrigerators, Freezers, Pneumatic Controls, Digital Controls, Exhaust fans, Unit Heaters, Steam/Hot water converters, Radiators, Fan Coil units, VAV boxes, etc. Uses protective gear while performing all duties in a safe manner.
Troubleshoots and repairs split system rooftop and through-the-wall air conditioning units, and heat pumps.
Inspects and repairs auxiliary HVAC equipment such as pumps, air washers, humidifiers, filters, valves, piping and coils.
Inspects, tests and repairs ventilation equipment such as centrifugal, axial, and vain axial fans. Repairs and calibrates dampers, damper motors and terminal boxes. Changes motor and fan bearings, shafts and fan wheels.
Performs air balancing, measuring and adjusting air flows in duct branches across coils and through terminal boxes and diffusers.
Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, adjusts and repairs refrigeration compressor coils, fans, valves and piping. Traces refrigeration leaks, re-solders joints, dehydrates and recharges systems. Cuts, bends and joins tubing by soldering or brazing.
Inspects and monitors refrigeration equipment to maintain operation. Performs Preventative Maintenance (P.M.) by taking pressure readings, changing filters cleaning motors, fans and coils.
Inspects, tests, calibrates and repairs all types and makes of pneumatic controls, including thermostats, controllers, transmitters and relays. Uses computer to control, troubleshoot, repair DDC HVAC Systems.
Completes all paperwork such as work orders, work documentation reports, logs, P.M.'s in a timely manner.
Keeps manager informed of activities, needs, problems and progress. Communicates equipment problems which cannot be immediately fixed to the manager to allow scheduling of repairs and minimize downtime.
MINIMUM EDUCATION
Required Minimum Education: Vocational/Technical Degree
Specialty/Major: An accredited HVAC program
Preferred Minimum Education: Vocational/Technical Degree
Specialty/Major:3 to 5 year apprenticeship program for HVAC mechanics
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS (must be non-expired/active unless otherwise stated):
Required: Certified as a/an: CFC Technician by: EPA approved ( TYPE I & TYPE II or UNIVERSAL). Valid driver's license.
Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 2 years experience in HVAC
