Northrop Grumman is currently seeking either a level 2 HVAC Mechanic to provide support to our Aerospace Structures team on site at our Palmdale, CA location.

Essential Functions:

  • Installs, services, modifies, rebuilds, and repairs air-conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment in an industrial or commercial establishment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations

  • Performs periodic inspection to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunctions

  • Conducts maintenance program to prevent failure of such equipment as, electrical controls/sensors, evaporative condensers, pumps, fans, and heating equipment

  • Charges air-conditioning systems with refrigerant; checks and tests for leaks

  • Sets and adjusts controls and regulators

  • Fabricates, assembles, and installs ductwork; overhauls equipment.

  • Will service, modify, and maintain centralized HVAC computer systems and make program corrections

  • General knowledge of building management systems including Distech, Honeywell, Johnson, and Staefa controls systems (DDC, AC and pneumatics)

  • Ability to write and program a sequence of operations using both graphical and line logic programming methods

  • Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience

  • Under general supervision of the Controls Supervisor, performs maintenance, calibration, and installation on all plant and facilities EMS/BMS and related controls required to ensure proper operation of steam, water, gas, air, vacuum, cooling and heating systems, and other related building systems and equipment

  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) program software to create process and complete planned and corrective maintenance work orders

  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and calibration on machinery, equipment controls, and end devices

  • Troubleshoots programming loops and adjusts as necessary

  • Make recommendations for system fixes and upgrades

  • Use site facilities dispatch system to communicate with site techs for assistance on issues

  • Ability to work 4/10 (4 days a week/10 hour a day) 2nd shift (3:00pm-1:30am)

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 2 years of HVAC/BMS experience

  • Able to read BMS screen, interpret issues and change parameters to control HVAC devices [pumps, fans, valves, dampers, VFD's, etc.]

  • Communicate effectively with site techs and management

  • Complete computer literacy

  • Active Driver's License

  • Able to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EPA 608 Universal License/HVAC Certification

  • General knowledge of building management systems including Distech, Honeywell, Johnson, and Staefa controls systems (DDC, AC and pneumatics)

  • Thorough knowledge of site(s)

  • Advanced training of Niagara 4 certification

  • Chiller and cooling Tower experience

  • Experience working with building management systems/environmental controls

  • Aerospace/Defense Industry experience

  • Industrial equipment experience

Salary Range: $57,800.00 - $96,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
